I still don't love the pose, I would like him to be a little less rigid.

Agreed. I don't like his overly stiff left leg. Like I said a few weeks ago, I think a wider stance would have gone a long way in making him look less awkward.

Whether he's supposed to be climbing down the stairs or just standing there like a boss, his overall pose just doesn't look natural to me. Which is very unfortunate, as I'm no longer buying any statues I'm not enamored of, no matter how hard I'd like that character in my collection.

I think I may be in the minority, but the height of the base and pose look epic to me. Vader needs to be on a pedestal, literally. I can't wait to pair this with my replica saber and Vader bust!

Good and easy manip makes this MUCH better!!! The stiff leg AND "too far away arm" are both fixed now! :clap

Yeah, the subtle differences in that edited image are a big improvement imo. The left arm hanging naturally looks good. I'd rather the whole thing was rotated more to the left also like the concept art which was more straight on with the stairs. I still wouldn't buy it with no ES though so it doesn't really mater I guess.

Just asked on live chat to see if this will be given an ES, the answer was a straight NO. Disappointing but at least I know where I stand on this now, I'm out.

Really hope this trend stops very soon.

Hey Python

Just out of curiosity, why is the no ES thing a big issue for you? Me personally, ES doesn't affect my purchase decision. I bought the Droids PF which also has no ES and there are no QC issues and they look fantastic.

Height of base is so awesome! Love it just don't love his pose in my opinion. As far as tall bases goes. Love them SS!

I agree they look great, that isn't even a factor. But I personally wouldn't buy any collectible without an ES. They aren't collectibles frankly. We all have our own opinions of course, I won't complain about people like you that are fine with it, but I really don't like the way it is heading with more and more items being unlimited. I've never even sold a statue for a profit before that comes up, I sold my Boba Mythos for retail value when they were sky high on ebay (before the second batch was revealed) I sold it to a guy that really wanted it and I purchased the Pacific Rim knifehead, win win. So while profit isn't a concern, selling older items to help fund new ones is, it has always been part of this hobby. With that in mind I would at least like a little assurance that these things will retain there value, an ES achieves that. The only one I even slightly regret passing on so far is the Wolf Predator LSF. This particular Vader hasn't really blown me away anyway, I would likely have bought one, but the no ES made that decision easy for me.

Ink, I have no idea what you're talking about lol.

He's saying you only see the edition number on the bottom. Though the edition number isn't necessarily the point of an edition size. It's knowing you have something that is limited, which is a huge part of making some collectible in the first place :| Things are more valuable when limited (not to be confused with it having value just because it is limited, but if it has a value at all limiting it can increase the value, 200% of nothing is still nothing :p)

For example those coins and stamps and art and basically any real collectible are sought after because they are hard to get, not because you can get one anywhere at the original price. These being pieces of art and not strictly a collectible for collecting sake they serve a duel purpose (they look hella awesome :p) and that is definitely the primary attribute for them. But even for art, the famous paintings wouldn't be famous if they made millions of copies or if they did it's the original/original artist done ones that are the valuable ones.

That's cool! I guess we all have different reasons for collecting these pieces.

With me, I don't have any intention of ever selling my pieces. I also have collecting goals in mind and once those have been reached, my collecting days are over.

My reason for collecting is to add a few cool pieces to my man cave and theater room. For me, ES has no bearing on my decision to purchase one way or the other. The most important factor in influencing my decision is simply whether the aesthetics of the piece appeals to me. If there's a cool piece out there like the Vader PF, I'm getting it regardless of the ES.

Hot Toys helped me decide. I was wondering whether to stay with a further collection of PF or switch to HT 1/4. Vader from HT is the ROTS so with Boba Fett will look silly. Sideshow PF is not perfect, the two statues have things that do not fit me, but they are consistent and together they will present a lot better.

I'm still turn, that last pic with the wiping vader really shows how **** it looks from some angels >< that leg is so damn wide...

Yeah, we all begin with that way of thinking but it is soon challenged. I also only buy stuff I really want. But inevitably something else will release down the line that you need to have. And given the expensive nature of this hobby, plus the limited space many of us have that often means selling on other pieces. Having them hold their value, or at least not loose too much is a big help, that is what an ES does. Pieces releasing without them are not collectible in the least, they can be made in any numbers and production can be halted and restarted as seen fit. I wouldn't mind them being mass produced non collectibles... If they weren't so expensive, can't have it both ways.

:goodpost::exactly::lecture I had a long post to add, but you basically said everything I would've about ES. Good post Python.
