Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Just like Bats shattering the interrogation rooms window with Jokers face. It didn't leave a mark.

No problem with them cutting away during Spawns death. But if they were going to show it, I would want to see it in full on realistic gory detail. And that wasn't going to happen.

With an R, TDK doesn't see a 500mil+ box office.

Deadpool will prolly make a little more than Blade did.

It's interesting how there's no blood in TDK, but they can show Harvey's face melting...which is way more graphic :dunno

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Though in TWS' case it was the opposite. Instead of people dying from flesh wounds they had guys like Nick Fury shrugging off lethal damage as if it WAS a flesh wound. :lol

:lol :lol

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I can't agree too much with this appraisal when we have Batman flying across rooftops in China, Joker blowing up hospitals and holding boatloads of people hostage, Batman using his cell phone technology to create the greatest super spying gadget the world has ever seen, freakin' Two-Face, etc. It was certainly hyper-realistic in major ways. Not that Heat or Silence of the Lambs were particularly realistic. Or even the super villain instincts of the Frenchman in the French Connection, when he's hopping on and off the train to avoid Popeye.

Super tech that borders on magic was an established consistency in the Nolan-verse, as were villains who easily control entire cities with their fiendish plots. Making a tough guy "lose the will to live" by scratching his cheek still seemed out of place.

Attack of the Clown Prince of Crime (aka The Dark Knight.)

:lol

Oh, you're talking about Harvey? You call that a scratch? He lost half his face and the most important thing....Rachel, which I was fine with because I hated her anyway, but still...that's why he turned into Daffy Duck :lol

Not Harvey, Joker killing Michael Jai White by scratching his cheek. Now that you mention it though Harvey's wound makes White seem like an even bigger wuss now. ;)

In their last moments, people show you who they really are. He died from a lethal blow to the cheek...right in-front of his boyz too :slap :lol Joker survived two of those "lethal" blows :lol

It bugged me how Joker or the Bank manager never bled, not going to lie. No biggie, but it does take away from it all a bit, makes it sterilized.

Yeah. And I always notice the lack of an exit wound when Alexander Pierce shoots his maid at point blank range. I don't need gore or blood but it does take me out of the moment a bit when I'm into a scene and then notice something go a certain way just to adhere to an MPAA rating.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Yup, especially when older comic book or PG-13 movies had the characters bleed or you have a mainstream show like Walking Dead where there's blood and gore everywhere, including humans.

I don't get it, but it is what it is. I highly doubt the Joker bleeding with some missing teeth after that beating (as it was originally intended in 2007) or some blood squibs in Winter soldier. It's literally just blood, we've all seen it. By not having the characters bleed, it just seems like we're watching lifeless puppets or something.

I saw about 50 different Deadpools at the last comic con I went to and Zero Blades. I think Deadpool is going to do far better than Blade, despite the R rating. But yeah, its not going to be a mega blockbuster shattering records (maybe February records).

I don't want to bring race into the subject, but are there that many black cosplayers out there? Speaking from my own personal experience, I haven't seen that many black cosplayers at the Cons I've been to, and it might be wrong for someone who isn't black to dress up like Blade and you know...wear make up to be film accurate. Then again, I saw a black Superman...so who knows?

Most cosplayers don't even know who they are dressing up as let alone care about seeing movies about them. :lol

That said, Blade was a nobody. I read comics and knew nothing of him. Deadpool should do better some 15 years later with ticket prices now. But I've seen Deadpool trailers attached to two flicks now, with packed theaters and there was no response from them and it is R rated. It will prolly get a 40mil opening and finish under 100. About on par with Blade adjusted for inflation.

At least looks better than Ant Man. I mean, Paul Rudd as a superhero. Really. REALLY?

there is clearly a different reason for no blade cosplays.... that i am not sure is wise to discuss

There was 1 at NYCC this year, a real one too, not a phony with black paint :lol

But he looked more like the TV show Blade than Snipes, so no bueno. :lol

There were dozens of Deadpools. :lol
