Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I personally LOVED 1998 godzilla and i loved battlefield earth
I also hate the godfather and i think citizen kane is boring.

Critics are clearly wrong
I think those were safe because they were considered perfect classics by the time RT came into existence.

If 2001 came out today I'm 100% sure it would be bashed by critics because it's too boring, and nothing makes sense and nothing happens, and that it needs more jokes and lightsabers, like the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens, lol what is it that that apes flashback? Are they trying to copy the planet of the apes? lmao

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I am looking forward to this one, still. Critics be DAMNED. I mean, Superman v Batman was AWESOME!!!! Right? Who's with me on that? Guys, ah, hello? Where'd everyone go?

DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Man. And I remember bashing TDKR like there was no tomorrow.

I wish we were getting that type of QUALITY at least for new DC movies.

All hail Nolan.

I'm pretty sure everyone thinks Citizen Kane is boring, but critics love it for some reason.

I really have no expectations for this film, I was pretty underwhelmed by the trailers. I didn't like Man of Steel at all, but I thought BvS was decent.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Probably because of all the technical innovations that just about every film after copied and are still used today.

This is the correct answer. Citizen Kane is a marvel on the technical level. Changed films for the better.

But I also find it pretty boring.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I'll be watching this tonight at midnight. Cannot decide on 2D or 3D yet. I'll give my initial impressions after that. I liked Man of Steel (didn't love) and thought BvS was a mixed bag of pure awesomeness and head scratching WTF moments, so I'm keeping my mind open for this. My childhood was built on a strong foundation of DC so I am rooting for them....just wish they could knock it out of the park for once. Here's hoping SS is at least entertaining.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Second screening was less painfull.
Story still meh and direction is lame but it could have been ok with the proper editing.
Now that the cat is out of the bag and that we know that Ayer did his cut wich was somber and had a different first act im interested to see it.
But all that wont save the camera work wich really sucked ass.
I saw Tarzan right after my second screening if Suicide Squad and its a thousand times better framed and directed than ayers dump.
Seriously the way the bad guy is introduced in Tarzan is better done than the joker.
And hes just a small guy in a suit lol
What a shame.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Im only saying that critics can definitely be biased and there is definitely something weird going on with DC and rotten tomatoes ,

But not ALL critics are biased or wrong. Not all critics are bought lol

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

The movie flowed better when I saw it the second time. About this whole critics thing, just go see it yourself and decide for yourself if you like it or not. Don't blindly trust critics.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I don't understand the hate for rotten tomatoes.

It's not like the site itself is giving the movie a crappy review, they just take all the major reviews and provide an average like metacritic.

"Screw you rotten tomatoes and your basic mathematical equations!"

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I like MOS and BvS very much, and I'm hoping to walk out of Suicide Squad happy.

However, it's hard for me not to imagine if they didn't reboot this entire franchise, and kept the Nolan trilogy and just came out with MOS as their first "universe" movie. then have a gap in time with Bale and Nolan coming back for BvS. I know it's just a dream, but I feel like that should have been the direction to take.

It would have allowed them to have 4 established movies before any shared screen time between heroes, and make it easier for them to establish a shared U.

Only problem with this scenario is that you're eliminating the best thing to come out of these DC movies, Batffleck.

Agreed.

I'm seeing SS this weekend and I'll judge for myself. :lecture

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I've just seen the movie. I liked it except for the editing and the overuse of popular songs.
- Was it predictable? Yes, but all comic book movies are so...
- Did the movie have a cliche villain? Yes but again; all comic book movies do
- Was the Joker any good? Yes, but he could have used more screentime to make his performance stand out. I couldn't help but make comparisons with a 'Johnny Depp character'.
- Were some squad members not as fleshed out as others? Yes, but it didn't bother me.
- Did I enjoy the movie? Of course! I know some of you hate comparisons but I left the cinema with a similar feeling when I saw GotG. Only difference as I said: the editing seems really rushed and it has pacing issues... The visuals make up for it. Other than that, it was a good summer blockbuster. I really can't understand that critics would score this lower than the average film. (+ the audience enjoyed it.)

Do they always use the same critics or do they pick and choose according to movie?

No but in the current agenda driven times, most of them have a similar mindset, and you can see it in the reviews.

You know, people don't actually hate RT like's it's a sole living entity. They hate the hive-mind "critics", which are also present in Metacritic etc etc.

RT is the scapegoat term for that.

If you want to take their word like when they told you Ghostbusters "wasn't that bad", good for you.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I find it odd that BvS, Suicide Squad, X-Men Apocalypse all have worse RT scores than Thor 2, Iron Man 2, Avengers 2, Ant Man, etc. since they are superior (or at the least) just as good as those films IMO.

I'm seeing this tomorrow night. I'm expecting to enjoy it more than BvS.

All perspective, I think Ant-Man and Thor 2 are leaps better than all the other movies you have listed with BvS being the worst of them all. (I have not seen Suicide Squad).

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Okay I just got back from seeing the movie twice.

I would give Suicide Squad 9/10.

No surprise here.....

DC is sending your check in 2 weeks...
