Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Do they always use the same critics or do they pick and choose according to movie?

they always use the same

if they're a critic and they submit a review to RT then they use it

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Damn all the "damage control" stories are breaking, movie must be bad. Glad I didn't pre-order any of the figures.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

No but in the current agenda driven times, most of them have a similar mindset, and you can see it in the reviews.

You know, people don't actually hate RT like's it's a sole living entity. They hate the hive-mind "critics", which are also present in Metacritic etc etc.

RT is the scapegoat term for that.

If you want to take their word like when they told you Ghostbusters "wasn't that bad", good for you.

Where did I say anything like that?

People sure like to put words in other people's mouths around here.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Ghostbusters is not fair because critics were afraid of the sexist label

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

No surprise here.....

DC is sending your check in 2 weeks...

Damn I wish they would :gah:

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I've just seen the movie. I liked it except for the editing and the overuse of popular songs.
- Was it predictable? Yes, but all comic book movies are so...
- Did the movie have a cliche villain? Yes but again; all comic book movies do
- Was the Joker any good? Yes, but he could have used more screentime to make his performance stand out. I couldn't help but make comparisons with a 'Johnny Depp character'.
- Were some squad members not as fleshed out as others? Yes, but it didn't bother me.
- Did I enjoy the movie? Of course! I know some of you hate comparisons but I left the cinema with a similar feeling when I saw GotG. Only difference as I said: the editing seems really rushed and it has pacing issues... The visuals make up for it. Other than that, it was a good summer blockbuster. I really can't understand that critics would score this lower than the average film. (+ the audience enjoyed it.)

Just answer the question everyone wants to know...was it better than Ghostbusters?!?

:lol

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I'm planning on seeing Ghostbusters in the next 2 weeks. It hasn't been released in my country. I hope Suicide Squad's better.
I would rate SS at about 7.0-7.5/10?
With the right editing it surely would be a 7.5/10.
There was this one scene where they introduced the 'villain's grunts/ minions'... That sequence was dragging on and on and on... 5 min later there's another hack and slash sequence with these grunts. Compare it to the AoU finale battle. Way too long.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I don't understand the hate for rotten tomatoes.

It's not like the site itself is giving the movie a crappy review, they just take all the major reviews and provide an average like metacritic.

"Screw you rotten tomatoes and your basic mathematical equations!"

my problem isn't RT itself, its the people who give them credit for reviews when they aren't actually reviewing anything, they just average selected scores from other reviews and display it on a website. You hear "Rotten tomatoes gives it 35%. Rotten tomatoes gives it 94%." Most people think its their review of the movie, but its not.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

uh...that's exactly what I said in my post...

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I know some people don't like Youtube critics, but I've come to respect Jeremy Johns opinion on movies. I don't always agree, but I appreciate his POV. And he seemed to really enjoy this one!

Jeremy is the best yt critic imo

I'm not saying you said that, I'm saying the "critics" said that, and even some people here echoed it.

That's one kind of bias. There's bias against DC movies too.

You can see it in some reviews for this, "gun worshiping", "glorifying violence" and **** like that, it's in line with the same PC mindset the GB supporters come from.

I'm not even talking about the Marvel bias, and btw, I'm 100% sure this isn't any worse than Guardians or ****ing Deadpool :lol I don't buy that for a second.

It all comes from that trendy groupthink.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

yup, but regardless of actor BvS almost serves as a jump forward in time from TDKR. just a recast and a few story tweaks :lol

plus I'd take bale batman back if it meant better quality story telling.

Only problem with this scenario is that you're eliminating the best thing to come out of these DC movies, Batffleck.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Ah, the youtube reviewer who despises even the briefest of silence and so edits it out of all his videos.

If it hasn't been posted already, Grace Randolph is a big DC fan and loved BvS, and she savaged Suicide Squad in her review.

There are some fanboys who 'respected' and liked Grace after her BvS review, now they hate her and say she's been paid off by Marvel. :lol

Wow, this gives her a lot of credibility, she's not afraid at all to speak her mind, even about the crazier Disney conspiracy stuff, and she liked BvS for many of the reasons I did too, so if she didn't like this one, she's probably sincere then, it's probably a good pivot for me.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Im only saying that critics can definitely be biased and there is definitely something weird going on with DC and rotten tomatoes ,

But not ALL critics are biased or wrong. Not all critics are bought lol

To be honest, I think there's something weird going on with Marvel and Reviewers. So far I don't disagree with RT percentage at all with any of the superhero movies they have rotten whether it's DC related or Fox related, but some of the MCU movies that are fresh on there is a bit of a head scratcher. But of course that doesn't really have anything to do with RT they just compile all the reviews, so we really need to be questioning the reviewers.

WOW! :lol This movie Is SCREWED....

She was the biggest defender of BVS and she was the one that fought the most for it, she was the leader in the "Critics are paid" camp.

For her to say all of this... :lol omg what the hell is going on
