Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

The Watchmen Comedian!? Wat

Haven't you heard? Watchmen is now part of the main DCU. Batman found his button in the Batcave, and they're explaining the Nu52 mess as Doctor Manhattan messing with timeline. Well, the latter hasn't been confirmed, but stuff from early issues of Nu52 GL plus Before Watchmen and Rebirth seem to support it. It's also theorized Ozymandias is the guy that's been helping Superman.

Jake gyllenhaal would have made an outstanding Joker. He's really done some good work over past few years.

Ain't that the truth. Enemy, Nightcralwer, even Southpaw was a decent boxing movie. I haven't seen stuff like Demolition yet though.

What are your Top 5 cbm's, superhero or otherwise? Not a loaded question, here's your chance to distance yourself somewhat from F4, Catwoman, Origins, etc. ;)

My top 5:

The dark knight
Batman Begins
X2
DOFP
First Class

.

Waller saying she's crazier and more fearsome is part of her reasoning to win over the board..

Except right after she says that they show Harrley...not Joker shooting at Batman then trying to cut him with a knife. The film wants to give Harley a strong introduction to the mainstream audience since she's not well known to a lot of people. They did that at the Joker's expense, imo.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I don't want Harley to have her own film. I think that would be very difficult to pull off. I think she would do well in a Batman Returns-style Batman movie where she's the Catwoman character, Leto's Joker fills the Shreck role, and Batman is of course Batman. Have him sympathetic toward her and wanting to redeem her, she gets the best of the Joker (for once) but rejects Batman and heads off into the city alone.

I say Batman Returns because of the characters but I'm also thinking along the lines of Bridget Fonda's "The Point of No Return." You kind of have a Harley/Suicide Squad/can-she-be-redeemed type thing going in that movie and while the overall film was "okay" I really liked the paths of the characters in that one.

Make sense just like Thanos is going to enter through either the convergence from Thor 2 or a Dr. Strange portal I bet Darkseid will use Enchantress's portal before it was closed.

Well, that's the comic universe, and Darkseid & Thanos are more than capable of traversing the multiverse through their own means, so I fail to see the connection there... Is-is it a joke? Has it gone over my head?...I think it's gone over my head...

As for Harley Quinn, well, buckle up boys, cause now she's officially DC's 4th Pillar, next to the Trinity: https://www.comicbookresources.com/article/jim-lee-dubs-harley-quinn-fourth-pillar-of-dc-comics-line

Sales-wise it fits, and they do nothing but promote her, so, yeah. She's DC's 2011-2013 Deadpool in a way, only much less interesting... :monkey3

While I'm not a fan of X2 I do acknowledge that that list isn't...terrible. ;)

X2 is almost perfect :lol

I think it's neck and neck with Batman Begins to be honest, but yea my list is pretty great :lol

Hmmmm

I can no longer successfully create a list unless i'm allowed to have 2 movies per spot. :lol

:lol

It might be best to break them down into categories

DC

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Marvel non-Cinematic Universe

Independents

The only thing more annoying than Harley Queen are the Mark Hamill Joker fanboys. However, thanks to the SS film, there are a bunch of teenage girls talking about how cute Joker and Harley look together. SS is pure millennial fanfiction for dumb teenage girls.

Harley > Deadpool

Movie-Wise, I can't comment, and considering Movie-Pool was Way-Pool, I can see the logic in there. But comic wise? I dissagree 1000% and I will die before I call Harley Quinn a better character than Deadpool...

Eh, I never liked Harley, truth be told. She's a one-note caricature with some great moments, and I can't see why she's getting so much love. Personally speaking, my favourite female characters in comics were the ones that operated in the grey area. So, I never liked Jean Grey, Wonder Woman, Carol Danvers and the like, but I was a sucker for Emma Frost, Psylocke, Elektra, Catwoman, etc, etc.
