Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)
I don't care dammit! Gyllenhaal can be the perfect Moon Knight, mostly because he's so good with diverse roles. See, the thing about Moon Knight, at least the later versions, is how fast he goes from a confused wacko to full-on rage mode.
During his first issues, he simply used the various identities, but as time went on, giving him DiD made him more unique, so they stuck with that. Either way, the staple of the character is that he changes moods, expressions, tones very fast, and it's something I can see Gyllenhaal do. And besides, if Kevin Spacey can do a Netflix series, and McConaughey, Farell and Harrelson can do HBO stuff, I don't see why Jake can't do it. He's not Brad Pitt, and from his interviews, he never thought himself up there with guys like Affleck (he still calls him Mr. Affleck), so if he found the role interesting, I don't him passing on it. It's not like stuff such as Enemy pay more, since that was an indie-flick.
As for the Joker, while I do think he'd nail it, I think Leto deserves another shot in a more serious movie, namely the Batffleck film. He's a good actor who got dealt a bad hand, and honestly, it was this whle "cray-cray campaign" that hurt his reception the most. The made a huge deal out of it, when in reality it wasn't such a big role, performance issues aside. But, if they were to replace him, I agree that Gyllenhaal could play a pretty darn good Joker...
And while he's already Magneto, Fassbender could be a brilliant Joker as well. And he could bring that melancholic side of the Joker, like he did in Shame.
Dream on! He's too big for Netflix. Besides, he'd be perfect for a Joker reboot. SS did a disservice to the character and I think Gyllenhaal in a Affleck film would be great. He was so good in Nightcrawler.
