Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Yeah, just like Ant-Man and GOTG...

eh those were mass appeal .... strange not so much, don't see kids being interested in that really. And suicide squad smashed gotg with horrible rotten tomatoes rating (and was clearly not suit for kids )

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

MCU is getting repetitive, if I had to put money on it doctor strange will be a flop....

Any-Man was about a D-List character who shrinks, not to mention shrinking films were BO poison. GOTG was based on a team of nobodies. To even compare SS to it is nuts. SS had Joker and Harley front and center, not to mention a very talented and well-known cast. Smith, Leto, Davis, etc. Meanwhile, GOTG had the dumb guy from Parks & Rec, a wrestler and an action actress. Br to mention SS was easier to market. One had a rackoon and a tree, the other had eccentric bad guys. Even then, if Ant-Man can succeed, I don't see why Strange can't.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Jeez, I sense so much hate for the turtle simply because I think SS is horrible :lol

But seriously, your friends liked SS just because they’re suffering from Marvel fatigue? Wheres the logic in that? Do they enjoy every other movie ever simply because it isn’t a Marvel movie?

No, they enjoyed SS because it's full of new characters they've never heard of and fell in love with. And that it's a dramatic change from CB movies in the last 5 years. It's not kiddy like Disney's properties, but just as fun and it's aimed towards a more mature audience. Marvel has banked for a long time on two characters. I consider my friends GA as they don't even know what timeline the MCU goes in, and one of them hasn't seen MOS or BvS but loved the Squad.

antman and gotg were the two most "disconnected" from mcu which I think make them better movies, but again they both were kid films which I think did a lot of the heavy lifting. I really doubt many parents woud bring their kids to suicide squad.

I think doctor strange cant because it has neither talking animals with a greatest hits soundtrack or a title like ANT-MAN (a movie with a very simple and quirky premise)

It's still a PG-13 movie. By that logic, no folks above 10 should've seen Ant-Man or GotG. It's all about marketing and hype, and WB did that very well with SS, simple as that. Go back to 2005 and try to market SS without relying on Joker, and see what it's going to make. Strange won't hit a billion, but to say it'll flop, in this day and age, with this cast, well, it's more than a longshot...

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Cast is definitely helping to sell a lot of the tickets for Suicide Squad.

even civil war "the greatest supa hero movie ever!!!" "The only movie with perfect action!!" "finally a good spiderman!!" couldn't even reach the crappy avengers 2 numbers

Nobody ever said that it was "da best supa movie eva", people just... liked it. Besides, it was a Captain America movie, something that turns a lot of people off. And besides, I thought BO didn't matter, right?

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I just think we should all count our blessings that we can go back to a time before the gimmick of a connected universe. TDK trilogy, raimi spiderman, hellboy, xmen, blade, all blow these movies out of the water. Luckily ss, to me personally, seems like it would fit in the early 2000s with the rest of em. And yes id gladly take daredevil over pretty much any mcu movie (although I do love guardians and ant -man)

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Neither did any of the Nolan films.

the Nolan films were a while ago and no 3d, but I'm talking about the steady dis interested in mcu movies not box office # battles.

JK, I don't really care. To say that you'd rather go back to Fantastic Four and Elektra, while dissing on Iron Man is quite frankly the craziest thing I've ever heard. So, uh, congrats, I guess?
