Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Some have already. :lol

I've paid more than a hundred on many movies.

Have you forgotten where you're posting. :thwak

People here have paid $100 for 1/6 socks. :lol

And my point is that these are similar products, that are similarly attractive to the public. Studio crafted bubble gum entertainment. Superficial, disposable, but flashy and colorful. Not that any of this is bad!

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

THE DCEU "PROBLEM" IS NOT ACTUALLY A PROBLEM

Here’s the deal, I’ve been called biased and a fanboy on the internet many times. I don’t mind these accusations because I can see where people are coming from. We all favor the properties we are entertained by. So when comparing DC and Marvel a lot of people will favor the company that puts out the comics, movies, or merchandise they prefer. I’ve been called biased and a fanboy many times for favoring Marvel, but now I’m here in DC’s defense. This’ll be a first…

There’s no denying the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) needs some work, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It took Marvel Studios nine movies to produce Captain America: The Winter Solider. It took them 13 movies to get it as right as Captain America: Civil War. I’m not here to compare Warner Bros. with Marvel Studios one bit, so for the time being I will refrain from constantly falling back on more Marvel/DC comparisons.

....The DCEU has also not been shy as to translate iconic comic book images into their movies for awe-sake. They know we like Jim Lee, Michael Turner, Alex Ross art. They easter egg us a lot just so that we, the comic book geeks, can jump up and down in our seats inside the theater. I totally did this in a particular Harley and Joker dancing scene (I had to wait for four Hawkeye appearances before he shot Ant-Man on the tip of his arrow.)

This proves two things, the creators of these movies are aware the fans are watching, and they want to cater to them. So maybe you’re thinking: “Yeah, but they’re not doing such a good job at it.” I’d like to disagree. DC has the ball in their court so much we were too busy criticizing to notice.

Man of Steel is definitely an origin story, but because it’s so well-known we got to delve even further into his Kryptonian heritage. It wasn’t by any means the same story we’ve seen in the past. Batman, Wonder Woman, and even Suicide Squad’s Joker needed no introductions. The fact that they didn’t need introductions allowed for their DCEU entrances to involve little to no backstory. Now I’m gonna get to the comparisons… Any other property (<CO-Marvel-UGH>) needs movies that tell an origin, otherwise Iron Man, or Thor would not be as well known as they are today. With the Justice League, you don’t need to resort to telling those stories. We know them.

Don't know if anyone posted this already.
It's another angle from that deleted scene between Joker and Harley but it cuts off right after the pimp slap.

You're making entertainment either way, whether it be "bubble-gummy" or not. if you haven't attracted the public to it you're doing it wrong.

So again, I'm not really seeing the comparison between a pop star and a comic book movie. :dunno

Really? Pre acid Harley shoots a guy on the street and puts the gun to Joker's head in the movie?

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

You don't get to see Will Smith, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie in person when seeing it.

You do with Taylor Swift. :lol

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Lol just got out of a screenwriting course and my professor asked everyone what movie they despised. This chick asked if anyone saw SS and then they all proceeded to say it ducked because of 3 reasons: Joker and Harley are too romantic, slipknot intro, and bellydancing. I started cracking up. Bunch of millennials incapable of actually knowing **** before giving an opinion. :lol

It saddens me that my generation are horrible opinionated gremlins. :lol

be careful bro
this is against the code of conduct and it is a kind of bullying because we have millenials that hated it in here. those people have a right to their opinion
just saying :dunno

You don't see her shoot the gun, you hear the bullet, with a quick on screen flash of the shot of Joker smiling with the gun up to his head, and another quick flash of him hitting her. just because the entire 30 second shot wasn't used, doesn't mean it's a deleted scene. for all we know, the sequence ended up exactly how Ayer intended it. These aren't actual deleted scenes. they are scenes on set, shot from somebody spectating. we don't see these "deleted" scenes from the camera's POV, so we will only know once the blu hits.

So they gave no critical opinion on the writing, in a screenwriting class? :lol

if it was an actor's class I'd understand. :lol

I agree lol, what I think is that none of it was actually critical feedback. Just general opinion, which I didn't say anything but let them know that I enjoyed it.

Which brought up this discussion when a dude said GoTG sucked, then the chicks got all defensive. I'm good for people giving opinions and such, but when it's utterly useless, it's best to not even say anything at all. What is funny is the chicks said they've seen it like 4 times. :lol

they definitely do have the right, but he was talking about classmates, not SSF's members.

Is this during her flashback in the stairwell when she points the gun at Deadshot or is it an earlier scene?
