Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I just don’t know how something like The Amazing Spiderman 2 barely made profit (if any at all) when it nearly tripled its budget yet SS is making a ton. These days I don’t know whats successful and what isn’t :lol

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Lol just got out of a screenwriting course and my professor asked everyone what movie they despised. This chick asked if anyone saw SS and then they all proceeded to say it ducked because of 3 reasons: Joker and Harley are too romantic, slipknot intro, and bellydancing. I started cracking up. Bunch of millennials incapable of actually knowing **** before giving an opinion. :lol

It saddens me that my generation are horrible opinionated gremlins. :lol

You can often tell when people are just parroting opinions they read online. The internet allows for instant unification of criticisms which supposedly gives instant credibility to both the criticisms and those who parrot them.

I first noticed it around the time of the Star Wars Special Editions. Everyone and their brother carried on about how Lucas "raped my childhood" as if 10 million people suddenly coined that term at once. Yeah right ya freaking parrots. :lol

I'm not saying that the overall consensus on any given picture is wrong or something I disagree with, I just hate the dumbing down of specific opinions and individual thought that often accompanies it.

TDKR is another good example. The general movie going audience and even critics didn't give a flying **** that Batman retired or that Bane teared up at the end. They just saw it as a movie with it's own narrative to tell and judged it accordingly but reading reviews on discussion forums you'd think it was the worst thing since AOTC (right jye?) ;)

ASM2 couldn't have bombed. It made the same as TWS and GOTG that same year (unless of course the advertising costs were astronomical compared to the other two but we'll never know.)

"Raped my childhood" is the epitome of most online movie discussion. Frankly, it makes it a chore to even check in on the folks here whose opinions interest me.

I thank Baby Jebus that I grew up before this particular zeitgeist existed. Not because I'm better than the participants but because I probably would have been caught up in it, too.

Seriously?

I seriously tried sitting thru it again and just like with the PT I failed.

BB/TDK are both easy repeat viewing.

I remeber jye liking TDKR, when I came back it threw me off that he doesn't. :lol

I do like the soundtrack and the Imax cinematography was incredible but i'll never forget the dialogue being drowned out by the sound effects and music and Bane's funny voice on the plane.

The only part I like is Batman's arrival after the Wall Street heist.

I can't believe Jye got you....

Maybe because Spidey is licensed while WB owns it's characters?

Spidey also cost 230 vs 175 for SS.

Popularity of Spidey should also crush all competition.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

ASM2 was a wild card, a very rare peek behind the Hollywood curtain of high level corporate back stabbing and internal fighting fueled by egotistical executives and producers mixed with Washington politics, fund raising, lobbying and Wall Street shenanigans, all thanks to the NSA...errrr...the North Koreans. :lol

So yeah ASM2 became the lightning rod because of the career building attachment it had to one of those executives from SONY.

Crazy **** those emails were, George Clooney is such a kiss ass. :lol

It's safer to just stick with bashing FF4 and Trank, less complicated than trying to comprehend why ASM2 caused a reboot.

My sisters personal info (including her SS#) was taken during that fiasco, she had already left SONY for Disney by the time of the hack but your personal info remains at your previous employer.

Back to Spidey, as much as I love him in CW nothing can touch ASM2 swinging and free falling thru NYC in 3D, not even Raimi's movies can match that, but Raimi's movies are better...much better.

I don't hate TDKR, quite liked it when it came out in fact but when I tried to watch it again two years ago I also couldn't stick with it for more than 15 minutes or so. It wasn't terrible but was quite the chore to sit through.

I do want to see how it plays from beginning to end, I'll try again one of these days.

Even though I'm a Nolanite, I find that most of his films, including his Batman films are a bit of a chore to sit through. It's like I have to be in a certain mood to watch them, but for some reason I can watch 89 Batman and Batman Forever very easily. Maybe because I used to watch them so much when I was younger. That also seems to be the case with a lot of the 80's films I grew up watching.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

for those of you who like the film, I highly reccomend picking up the behind the scenes book, it's full of awesome things, like concept work, early storyboards etc. it's half bts diary and half a visual companion(which I'm a massive fan of).

anyways, the book pretty much confirms my theory that the AA scene, is not the first time Joker and Harley have met, and it hints to helping him escape before. keep in mind this book is cannon.
