Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Even though I'm a Nolanite, I find that most of his films, including his Batman films are a bit of a chore to sit through. It's like I have to be in a certain mood to watch them, but for some reason I can watch 89 Batman and Batman Forever very easily. Maybe because I used to watch them so much when I was younger. That also seems to be the case with a lot of the 80's films I grew up watching.

Really? I can watch the TDK Trilogy any day of the week and twice on Sundays. I love every second of the 3 films. They are on TV a lot now to and if i see it, i watch them, no matter if i pick them up in the middle. They are my favorite films of all time that isn't named Star Wars.

89 Batman i like still, but i haven't seen it in a few years. Batman Forever i don't like at all anymore. The dialogue to me is awful, the acting to me is awful. I can't sit through that movie anymore. 89 and Returns I can watch, but none of the others from that series. And i never even saw the Clooney film. I love all things Batman, but i refuse to watch that movie. I am looking forward to the '66 animated feature though. that looks like a lot of fun :)

I guess you were right. Cool stuff, any pics of Joker peeing on Harley?

:lol :lol

there's not, but they mention that the first scene they shot with Leto was the slapping/lambo scene, and it sounded like it wasn't meant to be a huge sequence, but an early introduction to Leto as the Joker to other cast members since he approached the role so heartedly. really cool stuff, it looks like they were almost going a "Tyler Durden" look for joker early on, early concept work looked a lot like Pitt in that film down to the hair and a bathrobe/jacket thing.

Yeah, I see the Nolan Batman films on tv frequently, and I usually watch certain parts, but not the whole thing because on tv they're usually like 3 or 4 hours long. I like them a lot, but I just have to feel like watching them, especially TDK because it's so...heavy...and it ends on a down note. That's probably why I enjoy TDKR more, because Bruce is finally able to move on and be happy. I think Suicide Squad will have a lot of replay value, because I can watch that film very easily, even if I don't like how they use certain characters :)

I love the book too, i just started reading it. All the removable items it comes with are really cool. Just a really beautiful book, one of the best Behind the Scenes books I think. :)

It sounds like the TDK trilogy for you might be what the LOTR trilogy is for me. I absolutely think the LOTR is the greatest trilogy ever made and it is an immeasurably rewarding experience to watch them all but I just need the time, energy, and mindset to do it. The last time I watched *any* LOTR film was when I marathoned them all January 2013. Almost four years now. But SW OT + TFA, Indy trilogy and Cap trilogy are so much easier to watch at any given time. Suicide Squad will also be an easy and fun sit through at any given time but as I said after my first viewing it's more of an Escape from L.A. guilty pleasure that will be fun to indulge in from time to time.

yeah the tattoos sound like an idea from the get go. there's a early concept work of leto joker with a scar, very much like Ledger just with short hair and tats.

I'm glad they skipped the mouth scars. The little scars on his face are nice because they suggest some kind of history with Batman...hopefully. I get the feeling Leto wanted more of a classic/traditional look and Ayer wanted the "street" design with the tattoos. Leto could have worn any outfit he wanted in the music video, yet he chose (I'm guessing) the tuxedo instead of going shirtless with the gold chains....in a rap video.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I thought Joker's arrival in the helicopter was very well handled, it was fun seeing him in that context and in that outfit, good stuff.

Of course Ledgers bank clown mask reveal and kitchen scene entrance remains tops.

out of all 3 nolan batman for me goes

Dark Knight
Dark Knight rises
batman begins

batman begins definitely feels like a chore at times, I guess Nolans movies in general have that feel. I have not been able to watch interstellar yet, i took it out of the library 3 times and still cant watch it full :lol
batman begins has some bad action and then they explain the water vapor plan like 7 times between all different characters, that drives me nuts.
the villains in begins are not as strong, or that interesting. They are important, but... kinda boring after multiple watching

dark knight is perfect and i will watch it with no problem.

dark knight rises is a movie i will rather watch than batman begins and it is a movie i will watch if it was playing on tv, i love watching bane. i love the epic ending, i love nolans take on the tale of two cities
I LOVE Catwoman, catwoman might be my favorite character of these 3 movies. she was way better than both rachels.
so much to love.

i do love watching dark knight and rises a lot.

In 2005 my jaw was on the ground seeing Bale Batman in the rain interrogating an upside down Flask.

begins has its good moments of course but it drags too much and they over explain everything. I would have liked scarecrow to have more screen time or a bigger role. Specially in the ending... the ending of scarecrow in the movie was pathetic. Here we are about to see Scarecrow in his horse going to terrorize people and we get cheated of that lol

The climax of each Nolan batfilm is the weakest part for me. I honestly enjoy the end of TDKR the most.
