Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

I guess this is SOP for WB now, to release the studio interference version theatrically, then more of what the director wanted as an extended cut on DVD? Hey, if it works. I wasn't planning on watching this movie again, but will probably see this one if I can rent it. I certainly think there were things that could have worked in the movie, but I think it needs to go beyond being "extended" to being extended and re-edited/reorganized pretty extensively.

So much for the theatrical cut being the difinitve version.

You know what? **** it. If it takes away these teenybopper's impressions that Joker is some nice guy as opposed to a sadistic weirdo, I'm all for this.:lol

That's probably the one thing I would expect here. But it will still be jarring if it's simply an "extended" cut, so you see him really humiliating and essentially brainwashing her, but then selflessly trying to save her from the helicopter crash at the end like he's a crazy homicidal clown gangster with a heart of gold.

Never planned on watching the movie again, but I can't pass on seeing some more Letoker footage.

Honestly I thought like the first 15 minutes of the movie were okay. If they can find some way to fix the 3rd act, and possibly give us some real bonding moments in the second act so it makes sense why Diablo considers the Squad his family, then I can see this extended cut helping tremendously. However I still don't think it's possible for this cut to save the movie.

And with this announcement, David Ayer shed a single tear.

I didn't see the half-burned Joker in this trailer, hopefully that scene made it in. I was really looking forward to that before the movie came to theaters.

I thought an extended cut was definitely not happening? I'll probably watch it but I don't expect it to make the film any better.

extended bar scene. :yess: joker showing up at the end? :dunno but it needs to be on there
From what I understand, that's another scene that only makes sense if you keep the original intent, which was for Joker to attempt to kill Harley and save himself there. Because she kicks his *** or something there, right? But as a result, you make a pretty fundamental change to their relationship that could impact future films, so they might feel compelled to leave it out altogether. Curious to hear more details about any modification of original content.
