Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Happy Birthday, David Ayer.

There aren't many pictures of him smiling. :lol

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

:lol that might be taking it a bit far.

it's definitely on it's way to being a Cult Classic though. I could sit here and argue every negative point brought up, like the horrible editing that everyone seems to bring up after they've read about said editing through clickbait articles, as if they even know what they're talking about.

:lol but there's better ways to spend your day.

Khev knows this all to well though. Anything for clicks! Hence the whole "gay" character ****articles that RO got days after release.

There is another side to this coin as well though.

Nowdays no matter how horrible a movie is it will have hardcore supporters and will have big defenders. Movies now are like sport teams.

Find me the most horrible movie ever made like jupiter ascending and ill show you the most hardcore fans saying it is the greatest movie ever made lol. Almost like a battle cry.
If battlefield earth or pluto nash or house of the dead or even if batman and robin came out today i swear you would see hundreds of loyal followers calling negative reviews to those movies clickbait...
I could see people getting pluto nash or batman and robin tattoos non ironically :lol.
I think Ed Wood today would probably have a good job working for WB :lol

I blame george lucas and the prequels for this. Thats when defending bad movies became a true art. Like it became its own hobby lol.

If it was the FBI, or the DOC, sure they'd be briefed, I agree. But this is the military, who's soul purpose in this flick was to take back Midway city. It's a mission where the Squad doesn't even know where they are going or what the mission is. - Only Waller and Flag know. Why would low level troops need to know, or even wonder why they were transporting criminals from Louisiana?

See, this is where not paying attention gets you in trouble.

The military doesn't plant bombs in their necks. A Van Crisis employee/Scientist does. The military is just there to escort them to the helicopters.

Why would the military be worried about a prison guard talking to one of his prisoners, and not a huge operation where they are implanting things in inmate's necks and transporting them? Harley and Joker's relationship is hinted at not being that old, so it's not like they'd even know who they were transporting.

Figures wise, i was curious what your getting? Including HTs, are you getting the SH Figuarts, Mafex, or the DC figures? Right now i just have the Harley statue that came with the BluRay, and i have the Exclusive HTs Harley on PO. Im undecided on Figurarts and Mafex. The recent pix of Figuarts didn't look as good as i was hoping, and Mafex looked better. But Mafex have those loose arm and leg issues.

I haven't ordered any Jokers yet. I want the Black Tuxedo version most of all, but i got too many Star Wars to order, and can't afford everything :(

the amount of negative press compared to positive for any subject is tenfold. but I agree, there is another side.

I might pick up the deadshot DC statue though.

I'm not really interested in anything under 1/6th tho.

So, in short, he wishes he would've made the movie as it was initially advertised?

Even Ayer knows the film is a mess :lol

That punk is still laying about the Joker footage.

Now he wants to make Assault on Arkham instead? Go back to making LA thug stories and leave the DC characters alone.

Glad he made a movie and it made money, but now let someone else make a SS or a Joker film.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

i dont like the excuse of " making a mass appeal movie: vanilla"

thats such BS.... all he did was make ghetto characters he wanted to see on screen. no one ever asked for a joker with tattoos in a movie ever... no one. that was his own weird thing he likes to do for other movies.
he did the opposite of " making a mass appeal movie: vanilla" he made a movie with choices he wanted to see for himself, this was a movie for one

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

latest

Ayer's problem is that he took inspiration from the average Nu52 run, and not the classic books, hence his talk of "insanity of the original comics". Had he focused on what made the Squad work in the first place, we'd have gotten a better flick. But he just went for the thug and mobsta' look and feel, so eh, I can't reallt feel sorry for him. A bad flick is a bad flick, and these are just your run of the mill "I wanted to do something different" excuses. Nothing about SKWAD was different. All he did was take a good concept, and run it to the ground.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

Ayers problem is he let Warner Bros edit his film.

Eh, even without the edits, I don't think it'd have been much better. He had a "Rick Ross & Skrillex" outlook from the beginning, and he was never gonna tackle the feel and stories of the original volume. Nu5 SKWAD & NOW! Thunderbolts are DC's & Marvel'sattempts at taking good, villain-focused books and turning them into "SPLOSIONS & IMMORAL-BUT-STILL-KINDA-GOOD-GUYS-SORTA-SAVING-THE-DAY" comics.

Re: DC's "Suicide Squad" (August 5th, 2016)

You're wrong there buddy, this movie is a misunderstood gem, it's so thought provoking even the writer/director can't understand its genius. Start taking notes Marvel!

I agree Khev. It could have been so much better. Should have been so much better.

Holy crap, SUICIDE SQUAD got more Academy Award nominations (Best Makeup) than CIVIL WAR (none.)

:thud:

Croc did look pretty kewl.

CW really didnt have anything considered makeup I guess. Well maybe whats his name, the burned guy at the begining.

I just meant that CW got zero nominations period compared to SS. A bit of a surprise for a movie that was supposedly a 25% compared to one that was 92% or whatever. I would have thought that CW would have gotten the token technical categories like Visual Effects (mostly because of young RDJ), Sound, Sound Editing, etc.
