In comics they are usually fighting terrorists or villains like Joker. From rumors they are being sent after a weapon that might be able to take down Superman. They discover that weapon is Enchantress. Joker's role is supposed to be more or less leverage over Harley. He's too uncontrollable to be on Task Force X.
