If so having to miss the double feature doesnt sting so badly, I had to cancel my plans due to the death of a relative.

Yeah, it's a mine. Nice paper they used though.

Movie was solid. Probably a little better than the first but I don't think it's leaps and bounds better.

Just got back from the 2am showing.

After all the hype it was getting, I feel a bit let down. The visuals are great, and the apes look incredible, but there was just way too many plot conveniences that kind of took me out the movie, I guess when things start to get more spoilery around here I’ll discuss it.

It’s been a little while since I’ve seen the first movie, which I thought was okay, I haven’t made up my mind yet whether I think this was slightly worse, or slightly better.

People here completely exaggerate and overhype new movies, so every time I see these new movies I'm expecting a 9/10 - 10/10 "Wow, incredible!!" movie.

Kind of like how Vintij just called the first one "sensational".

I think this looks great and certainly better than the first, which I initially loved then came to dislike more and more, though I still think it's a good movie, but I'm not expecting this movie to go higher than an 8/10.

We shall see...

Adjectives can have varied implications - what I said doesn't automatically translate to a 10.

I rate the first one highly, that's my vibe. There's a lot I enjoyed immensely about it, so my comment reflects that.

One's mileage obviously will vary, needless to say then.

According to one of the producers, they died shortly after the outbreak of the simian flu...so it would be kinda weird if someone were to randomly mention them after 10 years

I I hadn't seen that. Explains things I guess but it makes it no less dumb to not mention what happens IMO. It's one of the things I would knock the movie for.
