Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I don't mind the blue highlights not being there. I'm just saying, they're being inconsistent with what they do. There should be a uniformity in their decisions. Do you want to be faithful to the character models or episodes? No blue highlights on Batman is fine, I've always loved the plain black on my Combat Belt Batman figures without them, but in the same line, their TNBA Batgirl has the highlights. Joker has the highlights. Etc. It's just odd.

Yeah, they're totally being inconsistent, which is sad.

That's what makes the making of figures based on cartoons difficult, IMO. What color is Joker's hair at the end of the day? Dark green? Black with a green highlight? What about the black parts on Batman? Are they actually dark blue or black?

It's really difficult to interprate their colors, let alone their design. They never look the same.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Saw some of these at my local comics shop and it made me sad. They looked really cool but I can't take the chance and those hip holes still suck. I hope DC fixes the problems with this line.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Even considering I mostly do 1/6 these days, I gotta say that this is one of the better pieces I've picked up. So much fun. Lotsa attitude.

Arrived today and I promptly gave it a warm water soak to get the joints worked out. The Turtles have a new ally.

Saw these in store and i admit, they look great in the packet. I just can't pick one up though, i don't want it breaking.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Pretty much just wanted the Bats so I risked it. The joints were sticky but very warm water and sloow adjustment worked fine.

That's true. I don't feel the blue highlights are needed for Batman to look right, but its critical on Joker's hair. If they just made it green (like we all know it should be) he wouldn't look right because on the show it was basically black with only that highlight of green. But the same could be argued with Batman. He's been drawn with black or blue colors, but if they made him blue (as the highlighting of Joker's hair would indicate is the right color) he would look all wrong.

But look how perfect Scarecrow can look with shadows added

Its really a case by case, figure by figure basis these artistic liberties need to be taken. Some work without them and some don't. Its just too bad they can't and won't be consistant, but that's what happens when you take a 2D drawing and make it 3D.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Look at this teaser image DCC just posted for an upcoming reveal at ToyFair! That's totally the BTAS Batmobile!!! :D :D

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah, the back end of it.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Oh ****. Bought.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

While I'm ecstatic about the Batmobile tease, I highly recommend people give the Q&A that it came from a read. TheRe's a lot of new information about their quality control, what they're doing to improve it, and what that means for future waves, including some updates on when Series 2 and 3 will begin shipping:

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah I read that info, it's a shame the waves are being split up, but good that they're taking the quality issues seriously. Hopefully the rest of the waves will be much improved. I can only hope they get rid of those holes too!

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Did they confirm that hip holes will be gone?

I wonder if anyone has asked.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

They did say a while back that they'd look into "getting rid of them going forward", but no confirmation in this latest info on that front.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

If they did remove the hip holes, it'd be cool if they did a Wave 1 re-release some day, for consistency's sake.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

First, I'm really glad they took all the quality issues seriously for the future figures.

But what about wave 1's figures? Will there be a reissue with the same figures made from the new plastic?
That'd be pretty frustrating to the people who already own the first figures.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

hmm...

We will continue to use PVC (aka polyvinyl chloride) for the larger size joints (such as elbows and knees), ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) for harder plastics and on a case by case basis, we will be thickening the size of very small joints. This may affect some of the aesthetic look of the small Batman Animated characters but we feel the balance between look and quality will be appropriate
