Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Voted for BTAS Croc here, will vote for BTAS Freeze when I get home.

I hate TNBA green Croc and "spider" Freeze, so classic versions of Croc and Freeze are a must. I'd vote for Two-Face and Ivy too if I could. I'm also certain the Ventriloquist and Scarface will be BTAS when they eventually come out. That'd be le of they started with TNBA.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

You guys don't think TAS Two-Face might be the one TAS figure in this wave (thus why he isn't listed), so you?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Words can't explain how much I want a TAS Two-Face in this line! Seriously.

First, because he's my favorite character.

Second, because that Kenner TAS Two-Face is crap. Really, crap.
20 years later and I still cannot stand him. He's completely off. That body (his left arm is shorter than the right!!! WTF), that open suit. Ugh.
What about the burnt side of his face and the hair???... Off, off, off.

Kenner did so many great and beautiful TAS figures that I can't understand why they ruined Two-Face...

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I hated the pimples on his face.

If they had closed his suit, made his lip red/pink (instead of pimples) and made him a pure white instead of a white/green I would have been fine with the Kenner version .

Same here!

I was able to paint his lip red, but still... The shape of the left side of the hair is off, so it doesn't work.

Oh, God! You just reminded me about the white side being actually light green on the figure. LOL WHY, Kenner, just WHY? LOL

And I just remembered that his hands are also awful. LOL

That figure has so many issues that I rather not think about it.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

A Vote scares me. It makes me think that (maybe) DC isn't going to be "all-in" for the line. Hope I'm wrong.
As for Scarecrow, he's always been a tough sculpt as his burlap sack mask is obscured in shadow and in 2-D. The Sculpt looks nice, though and I think all it needs is some black paint (applied to your preference, as we'll have to do this ourselves.)
This is what I mean:

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Still doesn't look anywhere near as good as your avatar.

TNBA Scarecrow and BTAS Penguin are far off the mark from their character models.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Also, Scarecrow's left eye should have a slit in it. As if his design with a noose wasn't scary enough...he's left eye is a screw. You can see it actually turn in his eye socket in some scenes. Although it's small enough that I'm perfectly fine without it as he's also seen in the show without it...I think that was just an oversight by the animators.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think the color's wrong on his face, as well. Shouldn't it be a darker brown. The only thing I'm curious about is if they're relying on actual shadow, rather than paint, to properly define it, andit's their lighting that isn't doing it any favors.

You didn't like Penguin?

I thought he looked great and pretty accurate for a 3D prototype image.
Guess we'll have to wait until we get a real photo of the figure "alive" (aka at some toy fair, for example).

But for now, I'm pretty happy with what I've seen.
The only thing that kinda bothered me was the "real" glass (as in "clear" plastic). But that is minimum, as we can simply paint it white.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah, I'm not digging DCC's Penguin at all.

SFA'a photoshop tweaks expressed what improvements it needs, starting with the eye monocle and face.

I'm also in the minority in thinking that their BTAS Batman could be much, much better.:chase

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

As for this TNBA Scarecrow, I think Mattel nailed him way back in the 2000s.

I mean, that JLU/TNBA Scarecrow is DEAN ON. Jesus.

I never bought him (again: don't like TNBA, lol), but the photos I've seen of him make me wanna buy, as he looks so amazing.

Mattel did a decent job, but go back and take a look at it...this new one is definitely the better sculpt.

I use to have a bunch of Cels from the show...most are all gone now...But the cel my avatar is from hangs on my wall!

Yeah, I see your point.

I think Bats can look better, too.

As I said, all we can do now is wait for the figures to come alive. I don't like to judge figures based on prototype photos.

Prototype can fool us. They can make the figure look great or ugly.
I hope, in this case, they're making them look ugly, as they'll be dead on in person.

I don't know if you remember this case: Neca's Elizabeth Swann from Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.
The prototype figure looked, like... Man, absolutely DEAD ON. I mean, that was Keira Knightley!!
But the figure in person turned out to be so off, that I thought of reporting it to Neca, as I felt so fooled.

That's why I don't like to judge based on photos.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I voted for TDKR Batman because I loved that episode where they showed them and the thought of this on my shelf in this animated style makes me smile:

Batman-Dark-Knight-Returns.jpg

I wonder if it's listed as TDKR because they might throw in the designs from that stand alone film?

Either way the leaders right now are:

1.Ventriloquist - Batman Animated Series
2. Bane - Batman Animated Series
3. Poison Ivy - Batman Animated Series

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think that you guys with your manips should maybe email that address they have listed. Hell, gather them up and I'll do it. Penguin, Scarecrow, and TAS Batman.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think the scarecrow looks good. In the cartoon his face is covered with shadows, something you can't do unless you paint the whole face with black paint, and still it might not be good enough. Maybe the DCC will look better with natural shadows, rather than the painted ones. That's what I think.

The mattel figure was pretty good, but it didn't look good from certain angles because of all the black paint, imo.
