Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think I'll see how the batmobile set looks at NY toy fair

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I just shot them an email asking about options for customers who already own the stuff. DCC have always been really stellar with their customer service/appreciation, so, I want to give them the benefit of the doubt before busting out the torches and pitchforks.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Wow, I don't exactly have anything new to add but I too am very surprised by this news. I didn't buy the first release due to space issues, and now I'm kind of undecided again. I think I like the matte grey better, but I'll need to see NYTF pics for better judgment regarding the new silver paint. That Bat signal, though....I'd love to pose Gordon next to it just on principle. [emoji41]

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

So glad I didn't get the first one like I originally planned. Recently watched a few eps of BTAS and the paint apps seemed pretty bland compared to the animation.

Now, my patience can finally pay off because I don't have any of the figures and there's a bat signal too! It's like they made this specifically for people like me who are bat fans, but were on the fence to begin with.

We already know what they're going to say. Something along the lines of "we heard people had a problem with the solid capes so we made these cloth ones so they fit better" or "the Batmobile was such a hit we thought we'd release another one so more people could own one". Some business logic like that.

Fact of the matter is, the Batmobile is only 3 months old. Kind of hard not to be cynical when they put up the video showing the features and talking about how simple it is to fit Batman and Robin into the car whilst struggling to fit them in properly when, behind the scenes, they probably had this value pack planned.

It's just a nasty move right after the holiday season. Seems scummy. It looks all thrown together and after thoughtish too. Like they cut the plastic capes and threw some cloth in there while composing it awkwardly in photoshop. They're even using the Batman head from the phantasm set with that paint error where it's missing teeth.

I know they're a business and companies do cheap repaints and rereleases like this all the time. The Batmobile, Batman and Robin are natural candidates for rereleases in my opinion. BUT a couple of months after the Batmobile was just released and is still sitting around comic stores and online shops? That's just tasteless. So many people bought the Batmobile and extra Batman and Robin figures, and they have the nerve to do this. Everyone was asking them about the capes fitting into the cockpit seats too and they dismissed it with "it was designed with the plastic capes in mind, you'll be able to fit the capes in there, no problem". Well obviously not. They knew what they were doing.

The regular Batmobile, Batman and Robin are still readily available, so I hope they choke on all these. Like I said, I could see them doing this a year or two from now, but it's just way too soon. The Batmobile is readily available, Batman and Robin are out there in abundance and the Phantasm 2-pack just hit. It's like they're competing with themselves.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'd still like to get it in writing, though. I told him that it seems like this is more for first time customers as opposed to the individuals who have collected this line since the beginning, and that it's impractical for many of us to buy two figures and a car we already own in order to get a few new items, but that it's also a bit disheartening, as someone who purchased these items previously to not have access to the Batsignal or the capes without having to rebuy the stuff, and I asked if they had any plans for those of us who already bought everything, like a deluxe version of Gordon with the signal, or an accessory pack with the capes.

Right or wrong, at the very least, I'd like to get a definitive answer.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I was expecting DCC to release some kind of "dx" set, that's one of the reasons I didn't buy the first car. However, I wasn't expecting the cloth capes, batsignal and the updated paint on the car. I thought they'd release the car with the figures and that's it, kid of like Mattel did with the Adam West car with the figures. I'm getting this set because it's a pretty good deal, but I do think they might make a 3.0 with even more paint details and some extra accessories later on, but I'm happy with this new version. I also think we'll see the new adventures Batmobile later this year, maybe some Superman figures too.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

If it was like what you described, a Batman, a Robin and the Batmobile, I don't think anyone would have cared or complained.

Those silver accents, the cloth cape idea (which we all suggested as an accessory to be included before the Batmobile even shipped) and signal is BS though. Well, I'm just thankful the Batmobile didn't get new features like tire shredder gadget wheels, removable grappling hook gadgets or pop up canons in the vent ports. That would have sucked. Maybe they'll save that for a third Batmobile.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Thinking I'll get the Batmobile set and wait for BTAS Batgirl and get some BTAS villains (Joker, Harley, Catwoman, Two Face, Ivy and Freeze) Which BTAS villains are already out? Joker, Harley, Catwoman and Two Face??

Madhatter, Riddler and Penguin.

Yeah, too soon for those types of upgrades. If they do add all that stuff, the price will be higher though.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

At this point, even if they offered us cloth capes in an accessory pack, would it make a difference? As far as I could tell, the only figures with removable heads are TNBA Batman and Mr. Freeze. How are we going to get the capes on without breaking the figures?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Batman and Robin's head sculpts pop off easily.

The Two-Face we currently have is not the BTAS version.
In total we have:
Joker
Penguin
Riddler
Catwoman
Mad Hatter
Harley Quinn
Man-Bat
Phantasm
with Ra's Al Ghul and Clayface on the way.

Well that is good to know. I never tried for fear of breaking these fragile figures. Anybody else's heads pop off?

From the looks of it the cloth cape is just a piece of cloth glued to the plastic upper part of the normal cape, which I'm not a huge fan of if that's the case, because it's going to look a little weird having the upper part of the cape be plastic, and then then the rest be cloth. I think those figures will be good to have in the car, but for display, the regular Batman with the plastic cape might be the best looking option, which is why I'm still getting the other versions.

I think this is what dcc is doing with the cape.

It doesn't look bad, just a little strange, imo.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

That is what I assumed too.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yeah, they are doing it that way. It's my preferred way because of the cape shoulder sculpts. I think it looks a lot better, and its the way I would have done it.

If they are putting the effort forth in making cloth capes, then why not have them be full wrap arounds?! I'd take plastic or cloth for that look, I don't care. I just want it. I guess they are saving those looks for a "dynamic duo" 2 pack down the road. *sigh*

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Do you think the chrome effects on the new Batmobile are going to really add much to it or make it better than the first?

I really don't know. On the show, they made the Batmobile have both the "shiny" effects on those parts and the "regular"/opaque efects.
Again, an inconsistency of the show.
I personally like both versions, though.

But what I would really want DCC to fix on this second Batmobile is those weird marks on the car's "ears".

BTAS_Batmobile.jpg

All of them have it.
It's really, really minor and I'm nitipicking here.
They are not noticeable, only when there's light over them.
