Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Anxiously awaiting the Facebook unveiling of the final character for the 2nd wave. I certainly hope it's Batman.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Maybe it will be Alfred since the voice actor recently passed.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Same, I'd love to have BTAS Batman and BTAS Robin before the year is out.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Woah, why are you getting so touchy? I mean no harm. My ego, feelings of being "wrong"? What? I'm just saying, overall this figure could/should look a hell of a lot better than it is and I illustrated how and why. All the other figures (save for maybe Catwoman and her brows) are spot on, why not the Joker?

DC Collectibles made the claim that these are based off of Bruce Timm's designs (even going as far as getting input from him personally). I can tell you right now that his designs never looked like the ones above, nor did the promotional art from DC's in house designers or the Batman Adventures comics. I don't even care about the coat tails because they interfere with the aesthetics and articulation of the figure (not to mention they might have implemented the short ones anyway). The headsculpt and v shaped Vest though, yeah, that's a little important to me. Like I said, it's not flawed perse, but they are basing it off flawed, cheap animation. I much prefer a fidelity to the originals, which to me, are the superior designs (especially if the intent is to make "Bruce Timm" styled figures as opposed to Dong Yang Akom or Spectrum Studios ones).

Not being touchy at all, your post just came off as really defensive after I pointed out that your manip would actually make the figure inacurrate to his in-show appearance, and then you started bashing the show and it's animation to defend your preference of his look! :lol If you were originaly trying to illustrate that you'd prefer the figure to be based off earlier art designs then that would be different, but you weren't. It came across as if you'd found a design error on the figure, but there isn't one.

Anyway, no offense meant towards you - it's cool that you prefer the original early art design, but I personally am glad that they chose to go with his in-show look.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Yes that would be bad ass, I hope either series 3 or 4 Has Harley, though....

It's cool. We're just both passionate BTAS fans I guess.

Though, I'm getting a weird sense of déjà vu, like I argued over this stuff with you before. :lol

Haha! I don't remeber if we did myself, but it's entirely possible :lol

And yeah, that's the thing with figure lines like these - the fans are just so passionate about the source material that you can't help but have strong feelings about them. That's not a bad thing though I guess! :D

Also very excitedly awaiting today's reveal here too!!!! I'm personally hoping for Penguin or Scarecrow!

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Same. And with them specifically singling this one out for a stand-alone reveal, it would seem like it would have to be something special. I would say it is probably a hero to evenly split the wave... but I guess it is possible it is 3 villains to one hero this time (I consider Catwoman in Wave 1 sort of iffy as being a villain, especially in BTAS). But if it is a villain, it would have to be something worthy of singling out over Joker... Which leaves a very limited amount of characters.

So my guesses would be-

BTAS Batman- We all want him. Totally worthy of holding that back.
BTAS Harley- Perfect compliment to Joker, and one of the only ones worthy of a special reveal in the same wave with him.
BTAS Clayface- The sheer size would make for a cool special reveal.

Or my dark horse...

Gray Ghost- TOTALLY worthy of a special reveal. Would fill a hero slot, and would save BTAS Batman to spread out the Batman releases a bit more. :)

We shall see soon!

It's probably a long shot, but I hope they feature alternate second portraits with some of these.

For BTAS Scarecrow I'd love to have the original "Nothing to Fear" headsculpt as well as the revised, "Fear of Victory" portrait. That's be fun to just swap them out. I bet they do TNBA Scarecrow first though.

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I'm betting it's Harley. I just don't think DCC wants to start wave 2 repeating figures of the same character, but I hope we get Batman.

It would make sense from a sales standpoint too, as more folks would probably pick up both her and Joker at the same time... Plus, Ivy is in there too so that pairing makes sense as well.

I just really want Gray Ghost. :)

Oh man, if it's Gray Ghost I'll flip, that'd be awesome. I have a feeling they'll save some of the unique characters like Gray Ghost as con exclusives though.

Did you show your son this BTAS Robin? From what I remember from your video reviews, he really seemed to love the character. I bet he digs this figure.

Yup! He has asked pretty regularly since the first wave reveals if anymore had been shown... So I saved them on my phone and showed them the minute I picked he and his little brother up from school. I didn't get my phone back the rest of the trip. They stared at them the whole time. They love them all... but he is freaking out over Robin. He had me show his cousin that night as well (they are BTAS buddies).

:) Admittedly... I am over the moon about Robin too. He is my favorite reveal so far.

DO NOT SAY THAT!!! I HATE THAT b********! I hate exclusive because you can't get them unless you're an idiot willing to pay a ridiculous amount of money on ebay. Has DCC made any EX figures from their other lines? Is that a possibility? I don't remember any Arkham exclusive figures?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

Good to hear, I thought he'd love it.

Yup, Robin is my favorite shown so far too. I've always been partial to that look and the BTAS incarnation is my favorite interpretation of Robin. I don't know if it's the look, the characterization, or episodes like Robin's Reckoning, but there's just something appealing about it.

Even though the Kenner BTAS figure was inaccurate, it was always one of my favorites, especially with those vibrant colors.

I am right there with you. TNBA Drake Robin was okay, and I enjoyed **** as Nightwing... but nothing came close to the way he was handled in BTAS. It was always such a treat when he would show up in those early episodes (like Fear of Victory). Robin's Reckoning is easily my favorite 2-parter of the series, and ranks right up in my top overall episodes.

And that Kenner BTAS Robin ROCKS. Even with the re-used body from Batman Returns... I still absolutely LOVE that figure. It basically included a vehicle!

Speaking of Kenner Batman, I gotta PM you . . .

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

If today's reveal is Batman, do you think the cowl, cape, gloves, and boots will be painted all black or will blue highlights be added like the Joker's hair?

Re: DC Collectibles doing Batman The Animated Series figures!!!!!

I think the only blue will be in the inside of the cape, like the yellow in Robin's. I don't see them doing all the blue highlights.

I would actually welcome Con Exclusive Grey Ghost, if it meant getting him in a special package that was entirely accurate to the one on the show.:lecture It'd be different if he were super-limited, but DCC still sells their Arkham City Hugo Strange on Graffitti Designs' website, like a year later.:lol
