But the next phase for his Joker would have to be to see him shed his nervousness and for intelligence to come to the fore.

Maybe he can start taking his own medicine -- a super cocktail of psychotropic drugs to enhance his "intellect".

There's ways to do it. BUT...

I doubt Phoenix or Phillips would ever want to bring their Joker down to the super-villain comic book level you guys want so much. This is just a different universe.

Here, even Batman wouldn't be the Batman you guys want. He'd probably be an actual detective more than a superhero, and his Bat-attire would likely be a scary costume more than impermeable armor with tons of all-purpose gadgets.

And people would be driving by in cars looking out the window at Bruce wearing this:

You know, it would actually be quite interesting if they did do that... treat the Batman character the same way as they did the Joker: as a character study of how a man gets to the point where he puts on a costume and acts in such a way. And just put the name on afterwards.
That I would love to see.

They could have it be like Birdman with Bruce having hallucinations of his own. So we see him doing normal boring detective work but in his mind he's swooping in like a badass and pummeling criminals into submission. The final act would be this big battle with Batman and Joker tearing up Gotham and then at the end they cut to Bruce and Arthur in street clothes just staring at each other, lol.

That's what I'm saying. Instead of trying to fit this world into the established one, try thinking of this as a new world view and fit the other characters into this Joker's style. Here, Batman might just be as crazy as the crazies he's always chasing. A guy who is always one step away from being a member of Gotham's Rogue Gallery of villains himself.

Its a very interesting -- and realistic (not trendy "gritty") -- world.

That would help with the age gap.

But I find him an unlikable psychopath, unlike Romero, Nicholson or Ledger who all had some appealing characteristics. He isn't funny or cunning, but rather sad and pathetic.

Without the characteristics common to the comic book Joker, the Phoenoker is just a failed clown. An unworthy nemesis for the Batman.

:exactly:

I don't want to take away from JP's performance here, it was stellar. I just cannot link him to be "The Joker". Said insane clown, yes. The Joker? Nope.

:rotfl

It'll be hailed as revolutionary story-telling in the superhero genre. :rotfl

Yeah, this movie was so much more interesting (in multiple ways) than the other DC stuff. I mean that Suicide Squad movie was just such a bore to me. I'm not much of a fan of this stuff but I'd like to see a Bruce Wayne version of this movie.

That alternate ending sounds great. I can only imagine what the audience's reaction would've been. :lol

Audiences would be debating if it was 'all in his head', of course. They already are from this tame reimagining. Imagine killing kiddie Bruce. Their heads would explode in the theater like that Kingsman movie.

It would have been a nice way to separate this universe for some people who can't live in 2 universes at the same time, but it would create too much havoc. Not even the Joker could survive such havoc. Not right now.

Plus, I think more than anything it would have been seen as a publicity stunt.

Six months ago who would have believed that Joker and TROS would finish in the same region of worldwide box office total?

And with a total negative cost of nearly $400m for TROS (nearly $800m for break-even point...) vs only a bit over $100m for Joker.:horror

I saw Joker on blueray today. In the final scene, Arthur has some noticeable grey on his face and hair. I'm just going to believe that's a post Batman joker finally realizing that he created his nemesis the night of the riots, coincidentally the very night he was reborn, so he finds it funny. That's a joker that would kill that lady for not getting a joke. :D

That?s what I think to. He looks older and healthier. The place he?s in is cleaner and not messed up. I wouldn?t be surprised if they stick this joker in Pattinson Batman movie. I know people don?t want it but I can see it happening.

The flashback to Bruce in the street while he laughs just kinda winks at you
