It's sad but that really has been the case hasn't it. He really hasn't done anything decent since Men of Honor in 2000, a film I briefly appeared in (as one of the sailors in the first battleship scene.) I killed De Niro's career. :(

He used to be my favorite actor in the 90's. How you get that role in the movie?

They filmed it in Portland, OR where I was living at the time. A casting company I was a member of called me saying that they were looking for young buff white dudes to be on Cuba's ship. :D What's funny is that I actually had hair then but they shaved it off for the movie, lol. I'm only in the movie for one second though, the first guy that Cuba serves a burger to in the ship's mess hall (which was actually the kitchen of an abandoned mental hospital.)

A few years later I passed on being in a scene where I would have been on location with Naomi Watts for The Ring 2 which still haunts me to this day. :slap

Did you get to eat the burger? :lol

We did about a dozen takes and it was a different burger each time. :D The biology teacher from Gremlins was also in that scene and I was actually more excited about working with him than Cuba, lol. (Cuba himself was cool though.) It was fun, kind of a trip to be served lunch on set and then go scrape my finished plate into the trash shoulder to shoulder with Powers Boothe who was doing the same. My 1984 self would have been thrilled to learn about my future interactions with actors from Gremlins and Red Dawn, lol.

I'll have to look for this film, I've never seen it to my knowledge.

You know I'd actually recommend it. Well told little flick with a solid cast. Cuba, De Niro, Boothe, Michael Rappaport and Charlize Theron to name a few.

WB executive - "We've found him, sir!"

Walter Hamada - "Who, what are you talking about?"

WB exec - "The ONE who can finally bring down the MCU and bring balance to the summer blockbusters. He goes by the name of Khev."

Walter Hamada - "Then there is still hope. Bring him in. Operation MCU extra has begun."

Haha that awesome Khev. I saw that movie when it came out and it was decent. The last performance by Deniro I really liked was in Heat.

Yeah it's pretty shocking to think back to watching him in Heat still totally in his acting prime and realize that we were completely oblivious to the fact that his career would be all downhill from there for decades on end. Same for pretty much everyone else in that film (Kilmer, Sizemore, Judd) save for Portman. Pacino at least had Donnie Brasco and Insomnia (still one of my favorite Nolan flicks.)

EDIT: Forgot about Ronin for De Niro, which came after Heat. That was cool.
