Yeah Nicholson was definitely more disturbing in '89 than Ledger was in '08. The stupid off camera cheek slice (as if that would instantly kill a guy, lol) in TDK was jarring even in the theater. But Nicholson torching the guy with a hand buzzer was kind of a gruesome Indiana Jones-level death.

Safe? Didn't Clown argue that Nicolson was much more dangerous than Phoenix because he was going to gas an entire city?

I don't necessarily agree with that, because in SW they blow up an entire planet of people and that didn't stop the movie from being a happy shiny movie for kiddies... its all about tone.

Yep otherwise we'd be arguing that Arnold's Freeze and Poison Ivy were the most dastardly villains since they were going to freeze the entire world in order to allow...plants to grow? WTF, lol.

That always bugged me a little. The fact he appeared to die instantly made me think ''ok so he removed the blade from his mouth and instead quickly slashed his throat?'' But even that wouldn't have been an instant death in reality and yet in the movie it was. So much for 'guns are too quick'.

Clown you really should stop posting that gif. Not only is it one of the biggest spoilers of the movie but IMO having it in gif form also does a disservice to all of the build-up that came before.

I deleted the post. It's been 3 weeks. If someone hasn't seen the movie by now and they come to this thread, they get what they....well you know. Also, the second trailer spoiled that for me. I knew it was going to happen, so the scene wasn't at all shocking.

Waits for Clown to post gif of young John Connor?s death :yess:

It?s pretty wild when you break them down.

89 appreciated all the fine food, clothes and lifestyle that came from being an established mobster first before going Joker.

TDK was a mysterious hobo who took the mob head on. Now think about this Khev I?ve never seen this mentioned by anyone before but with his amazing skill of taking out a person with the pencil, how easily he used an RPG and drove big trucks, his lack of fear in front of a moving motorcycle, how effortlessly he shot out tires with a machine gun and the ease with how he recruited people if I had to guess that just screams ex special forces for me.

19 Joker still has a long way to go to be super menacing and cunning for me but he did start on that path at the end.

While I also think that scene is silly I guess we can assume that Joker?s henchmen that were behind Gambol also probably stabbed him at the same time from the back yikes.

We tend to forget those guys back there lol

Ledger Joker was also entirely confident he could overpower that one cop who was left to guard him in the interrogation room. He obviously was capable enough at hand-to-hand fighting.

capable enough at hand-to-hand fighting.

I love that aspect to Ledger's Joker... but when he's holding that guy at "shard"-point, it seems really easy for that cop to twist, punch and escape... especially when Joker reaches out for the phone.

My suspension-of-disbelief meter buzzed with an alert at that moment.

:lol

That's your next movie.

The Hobo Menace.

No good!

Hobo with a shotgun already exists :gah:

Oh, OK... then you should be very proud.

I is master I is.

Oh snap you?re right.

Me thinks my man had seen combat before.

Besides what a great cover for ex special forces than a freaking hobo lol

That does seem to be his mindset though it *could* technically still be interpreted as him simply being confident that the tussle will be amusing whether he wins or not. He obviously doesn't care if he gets in over his head and dies as evidenced by the hospital gun to his head scene and his laughter when Bruce threw him off the building at the end.

But yeah the pencil trick alone implied that he was a Wick-level fighting expert.

Will the real baba yaga boogeyman (whatever that stupid nick name is) please stand up :panic:

TDK Joker was The Shape in Halloween 78 lol

Ii have no problem with that. If a younger, larger guy overpowered you and put a piece of glass to your neck, you're not going to take a chance. My only issue with that scene is what happens once the bomb goes off. Everyone falls down for some reason but Joker just stands there, then walks over to the cell and gets Lao. Why are they all down?

Yeah, that too.

But that guy isn't a small fry. He's pretty stout compared to Joker so it seems like an even match. Joker must be really, really strong to hold the guy with one arm.

But then, like you said, he's also impervious to shrapnel so I guess he is super strong.
