I was hoping, with Jim Lee heading the costume redesign, we'd lose the crab mask in favor of something more like Rayner's Ion costume:

Considering his other designs look like ____, why would you expect differently here? :dunno

Morrison's "All Star Superman" was good, but I preferred Alan Moore's version of the end - "Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow". Like Morrison, Moore goes retro and embraces many silver age elements of Superman.

This and Moore's other famous Superman story "For the Man Who Has Everything" are my favorite works he wrote for DC (followed closely by Watchmen).

I'm not as smitten with Morrison as many others. He went on my 'probation' list after Batman and Final Crisis. I'll only buy trade paperbacks where he's the writer, and only after I've heard decent things about the book.

Morrison has written some fantastic stuff loved zenith back in the day. But not all his stuff is to my taste.
Event changing stories are great but only if they are rare and very well though out.
Just throwing something in can just ruin the flow of a title for years.

Listening dc?

The Lanterns are Geoff's babies, they were relatively untouched. Even Sinestro's GL costume is one that Reis has drawn before just tweaked.

Regarding the GL covers, where is Hal? I haven't finished "War of the Green Lanterns" yet, could it be... :panic: No, probably not. :lol Though, I would be more interested in the GL flagship title if Sinestro were the title character instead of Hal. So what happened to that bloody glove cover then? Is that a variant? Looked cool.

Hal is over with the Justice League. I haven't read through the last WotGLs yet but it looks like all the GLs of 2814 are intact. Remember Sinestro was never the GL of 2814, he was the GL of 1417.

Jim Lee's costumes are so interchangeable. Seams and kneepads everywhere. Almost everyone in that JLA pic has a belt line that points at their junk.

I used to think Lee was the 90's answer to George Perez. Now I think he's a sad remnant of the same machine that gave us Rob Liefeld.

As an artist, I really dig Jim Lee and appreciate all he's done. But like I said before, he isn't my first, second, or 50th pick as a costume designer.

Sadly, these outfits will probably catch on, and 20 years from now folks will be clamoring for collectibles with these characters wearing these things, just like folks love "Pouch-O-Plenty" Cyclops and other characters wearing jackets over their spandex leotards (Rogue, Gambit). Probably billowy armed Storm, too.

____ went down in GL #67. Explains some things about GL #1 in September. Looks like I'll be keeping regular GL on my pull list after all...

Went to my LCS today and the owner actually tried to talk me into signing up for all the #1's. "I think they're all gonna be good." was all he can say. He even defended Lee's suits as "well, everybody was due for an update anyway." Guess I'll be finding another shop where they're less shameless about pushing comics. :(

Those knee pads on Batman look silly. Maybe they detach as a backup batarang as a last resort...

Merchants are in a pretty bad situation. Little mom and pops can hardly say "Over a third of the wall is going to suck! I wouldn't buy my inventory if I were a customer!"

My local merchant is a pretty straight shooter. He's been mad at DC since getting stuck with a ton of 52 and other recent event series. DC is now telling the independent comic shops they can go wither, DC wants to focus on digital and cut the shop's revenue.

aww hell I dislike reboots. I really wonder if this is going to bring back a lot of older fans who quit reading or just lead to more people stop reading comics altogether.

It's bringing me back after about 10 years, will be picking up at least 10 of the 52. I actually don't have a problem with most of the new costumes as they aren't that far removed from the old ones and do lend a sense of unity to the JLA.

The only one I dislike is Superman's. The pant-less look and collar don't bother me, it's just the fact that it looks like he is wearing armour. Of course it may be that they have reduced his powers a bit in the relaunch and he may not know or be as invulnerable as he has been in the past.

i'm kind of late to the party, but what is with the plot with the new 52? i didn't even finish reading the original 52 story or the black lantern story. ::sigh::

Two different things. DC is relaunching its universe with 52 titles come September ... that's what people are referencing. Unrelated to the weekly '52' storyline (which I didn't read either).

Yeah I read that too, the GLCMB is going ape____. Those covers to JL could be baits and switches (They've done it for the past year) or something goes down very soon to prep for August.

Yup, it's just annoying when you're staring the dude in the face while he's talking and he's pantomiming like he's trying to stifle a sneeze. :(
