batman and robin - the possibilities are there to be interesting but right now the way it reads there's hardly any difference who's under the cowl when dealing with Damian. That kid really is a whack job. Bruce really is softer but still unemotionally detached. Aside from a few "your my son" dialogue, you'd think more would be going on internally to see his own son doing what he does so recklessly. Specially as how it initially ties in to Bruce's own parents and his feelings.

Red Lanterns - total trash. I don't think i am revealing any particulars in this but I'll pu tin in spoiler mode since the story is so shallow and one dimensionally boring.
You know what happens when you try to find a conscience or logic to rage? Bullcrap!! That's because rage is rage. Out of control, hell bent, no reasoning that is what rage is to me. Not "oh poor me, what am i going to do?" Boo hoo.
Demon knights - a quick origin story, jump into time, into battle, introduce old characters with new twists and some plot twists and i am confused by why I am already bored when so much stuff is going on. There's just nothing there (characters or stories) for me to grab onto.

Green lantern - Sinestro as green, well it's a given that some interesting things will be going on here. 3 things going on here: how is sinestro going as Green lantern, What's up with Hal jordan, and what's going on with the guardians. I'm hooked on all 3 plots.

ALL of you need to run out and purchase Animal Man #1. Seriously.

The comic was that ******* good.

Animal Man. Occult/Supernatural. Just awesome, awesome stuff. Great writing, great artwork.

You won't be disappointed.

:lecture:lecture:lecture

My favorite so far of the new 52 by a big margin.

Since this reboot is getting as much interest, if not more, than Blackest Night did, I think a sticky is in order.

Since I haven't chimed in yet, I've only picked up Detective Comics, GL, and RL so far. I plan on picking up the other two Batmans as well. Not sure on Batman and Robin as I like Batman flying solo. Also picking up the other 2 Lantern books as well. Pretty much just going to limit myself to Bats and Lanterns right now. I don't even want to calculate how much I've spent on comics since Blackest Night and through Brightest Day :horror

So far, I'm liking where DC is going and GL is going right from where it left off. So I wouldn't even say that was rebooted, just renumbered. I'm going to crack open RL tonight. Strange the Reds got a book before the Sinestro Corps though. Clearly Sinestro can carry a book ;)

My pull list had been reduced to Marvel's Princess of Mars. Thanks to the bastards in this thread who've convinced me I'm going to miss good stories, these have been added.

Detective Comics
Batman
Catwoman
Suicide Squad
Frankenstein
Justice League Dark

You really should add Animal Man to your list. I haven't read all of the new 52 (that are out so far, but I'm working on it) and Animal Man is very well written and very original. Probably my favorite so far, next to Detective Comics.

Others I have read:

Action Comics: not the best, and probably won't keep up with it.
Batgirl: I like a lot and plan on keeping up with it.
Justice League: took like 5 minutes to read, I like it because of all the characters, but really nothing great.
O.M.A.C. : nothing special, won't continue reading.
Hawk & Dove: same as omac, Liefeld used to be one of my favorite artists years ago (The New Mutants, X-Force), nowadays, not so much.
Swamp Thing: was decent, but probably not for me. Don't plan on keeping up with it.

Next up:
Men of War, Static Shock, JL intl. Batwing, Green Arrow.

Finished Men of War and Suicide Squad. Both have great potential. Men of War has a great premise, but I'm not too sure about the execution. Everything but the set-up was forgettable.

Animal Man remains my favorite, even over Detective Comics.

I think I will. Animal Man has always been cool.

All of this makes me wonder what happened to Starfire and Adam Strange.

Starfire ended up here with Roy and Jason

No sooner has Batman's former sidekick, Jason Todd, put his past as the Red Hood behind him than he finds himself cornered by a pair of modern day outlaws: Green Arrow's rejected sidekick Arsenal, the damaged soldier of fortune, and the alien Starfire, a former prisoner of intergalactic war who won't be chained again.

As a loner, Jason has absolutely no interest in this motley crew of outlaws. So what's he going to do when they choose the Red Hood as their leader? Find out in this hot new series from writer Scott Lobdell (WILDC.A.T.S, Uncanny X-Men), featuring art by rising star Kenneth Rocafort (ACTION COMICS)!

Really looking forward to this book because it's a wildcard much in the way that Suicide Squad is a wildcard. You just don't know what to expect.

Now that I think of it. Animal man was more than interesting. A "c" character with very minimal expectations and yet the story was good and it seems to be leading to a good story. I liked how they showed him tapping into his animal powers.

OMAC is another small time character that i wasn't expecting much but the story so far is interesting. A few questions raised, makes me want to find out where it is going.

Batwoman is another interesting read for me. The villain is not too interesting so far but the background story going on with the main characters makes me want to read more.

Stickied to the top of the sub-forum: where good threads go to die.

My picks this week were just Green Lantern #1 and Suicide Squad #1. I know I had Demon Knights on previous lists, but I chickened out and bought Batwoman instead. The art is just gorgeous, hopefully the story is just as good!

Just finished Detective #1 and Action #1. I know most have already read them, just wanted to say i really enjoyed both, but detective especially. The last page really intrigued me. Gonna pick up Batman, Superman and maybe Catwoman and Swamp Thing.

So for I've been underwhelmed by a lot of the New 52. I loved Superboy, Detective Comics and Green Lantern, liked Action Comics, Batgirl, Suicide Squad, Batman & Robin and have been fairly meh on the rest.

I'm still laughing at the fact nothing has changed for Green Lantern other than the numbering. Even more so at looking at Johns' "Green" Hal in Justice League. He matured a whole helleva lot in 5 years

i'm sorry, did you write something Mike? I couldn't keep my eyes off your sig.:lol

Honestly, As much fanfare that DC was pushing with this renewed DC I didn't really think they would be able to accomplish something revolutionary. As far as i am concerned whatever stories they cooked up with was probably done in the past in some story or another.

I'm interested in reading more of Action, as Superman is more of a crusader than a hero. I want to see that arrogant ego of his new self deflated by simple reality.

Batman and Robin - I want to see where this leads. Is Bruce nothing more than a demented psycho that puts children in dangerous situations without disregard? Or will he really be more into family and what that means? He always thought so much about the death of his parents, what does it mean to think about life and his crusade with his son?

Batwoman - Will we see more female characters undress as they don their costumes?

Is animal man the new swampthing?

I just have to read the next JLA: Superman Vs. Batman. Does he know superman's weakness?

Edit: Holy Crap that is totally uncool of Best Buy!!! That Store manager is going to find out (really soon) that he has an @ss and that it is about to be chewed out.

More likely Johns simply botched the character in JL #1. I'm still shaking my head at that hack job.

Anyway, my list for tomorrow:

Batman #1
Catwoman #1
DC Universe Presents #1
Green Lantern Corps #1
Nightwing #1
Red Hood And The Outlaws #1
Wonder Woman #1

This will actually be the first week where I'll try out most of the books. The last couple pf weeks I only picked up 3-4.

What's on everyone elses list this week?

The only DC book on my pull list this week is Green Lantern Corps, but I'll probably grab Blue Beetle and Red Hood as well.

It's ironic actually since he is also writing Green Lantern and on top of it rose to fame based on his treatments of Hal Jordan back in 2005.

I've got these on my list for tomorrow:

BATMAN #1
BIRDS OF PREY #1
CATWOMAN #1
GREEN LANTERN CORPS #1
LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #1
NIGHTWING #1
RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS #1
SUPERGIRL #1
WONDER WOMAN #1

The Legion fan in me hopes we get a book that actually sticks.
