You guys realize that it's a metaphor for Damien's whole bag of issues right? The bat symbolizes Bruce buzzing around, watching, critiquing but as he catches it, does away with it and tosses it, just like he claims to want to do with his father, he turns his head in saddness because it isn't what he really wants.
Yeah, I got that. It's really not that deep. In fact, that's precisely the kind of thing that makes me agree with whoever it was that said that they're just trying too hard. Sometimes, sublime is better. So far, this title just hits you over the head with these issues to the point of annoyance. It has one more issue to get better, or I'm dropping it.
BTW, that also goes for Justice League. I don't know what Johns' deal is, but he's really dropping the ball with these characters. The ante of annoying banter between DC's big guns is upped even more in Issue #2 with the arrival of The Flash. And Lee's art? Mega-meh. One more issue to improve or this gets the axe, too. I'd rather just miss it than read more of some of my favorite superheroes of all time coming off like Superdouches.
