Finally got around to reading Catwoman #2, I think I may drop it. It was less interesting than the first one IMHO. Winnick needs his walking papers. I hate to say it but Johns/Reis are killing it in Aquaman, the subtle humor, the development between Mera and Arthur, I'm loving it. I haven't cracked open yesterday's reads yet but as this continues my lists are continuing to get shorter.

Aquaman has been solid, so far. One of my favorite of the new books. Kinda wipes the stench away from Justice League.

Fine. I'll try it as well. dont normally like westerns

It's not really a Western, though. That's the thing. It's Amadeus Arkham & Jonah Hex in a creepy murder mystery set in 19th Century Gotham. It's basically "From Hell" meets "Sherlock Holmes", but with more of the fun action bent and dark humor of the Jonah Hex books. It's pretty violent, too.

Just got my issue 3's of detective, action and swamp thing. Just read detective as I was eager to see what happens to gordon. This is an enjoyable little story but I'm finding I'm getting more into the batman title than detective comics. Anyone else leaning this way?

Will hopefully read action comics and swamp thing tonight. Both have been great so far. Also picked up the demon laughs for about £2 so can't wait to read that too.

There are two different feels between Batman and Detective Comics. Detective Comics feels almost noir whereas Batman has a classic feel to it that mixes the classic detective story with the modern takes of technology. I love them both.

The books that have been really disappointing is the Superman titles which all come up a little flat and almost feel carbon copied from one another which I know is to try and commit continuity between Morrison's past stories and Perez's present stories but they are coming off meh.

Of the Big 7, The Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman and Batman are coming up the darlings of DC with Martian Manhunter (Stormwatch) and Superman being really subpar and even a bigger headscratcher is Justice League where Lee's art (yes I like Jim Lee's art) is the only saving grace and Johns seems to have no ____ing clue what he is doing giving us a lame Darkseid retreading.

Oh, bah! Jim Lee's art is Image-era poop. :pfft:

:lol

Other than that, I completely agree with you. And I still think Animal Man is the break-out sleeper hit from this whole thing.

Oh, and DC kicked Marvel's ass again in October:

And good, I say. :lecture While there are world-class doofuses who run both publishers, it's absolutely clear that the majority of the best writers & creators currently reside at DC. This whole New 52 thing had all the makings of a huge embarrassing bust. Instead, the talent stepped up and, suprisingly, provided some of the best stuff to come out of comics in a while. Some of these new DC books make the likes of Marvel's "Fear Itself" look laughable and utterly dated in comparison. The "House of Ideas" mantle has been crushed, at least for now.

Fear Itself was soooooo disappointing.

Yeah, i always preferred Detective Comics to Batman. But lately i've been leaning more toward Batman. But im really intrigued by the whole council of owls thing (was it "council"?), but it might just be the particular storyline thats interesting me more at the minute. Will see how both titles play out.

Yeah, as for Superman, i've been quite disappointed. I've admittedly never read any Superman before other than Birthright (which i loved), but was interested to 2make a start here. I am enjoying Action Comics, but Superman is a bit meh" at the minute. Will see how it goes though.

Im really loving All Star Western and Swamp Thing, Teen Titans is pretty enjoyable, but thats probably mainly because i really like Tim Drake so i read it for that reason. I also just bought Nightwing #1 and #2, again never read Nightwing and never was into Grayson as Robin, but thats because i was never a fan of Robin. So gonna give that a try.

:lol Hey now, remember I was born in the 80s but for the most part grew up in the 90s. Love it or hate it, Jim Lee's art just like McFarlane and unfortunately Liefeld remind me of being 10 years old and reading the X-Men books. So it's more nostalgia than anything else, I actually prefer Capullo (which is a still Image) and Finch but really like Jim Lee takes on characters but then loved Michael Turner's stuff too :dunno

I've been tempted to go back to that one, since I read issue 1 and while good it wasn't enough to make the cut but people are still raving. I have 28 DC books so far I'm trying to keep up with.

Outside of Amazing Spider-Man (Spider Island was much better than I thought it would be) and Venom, Marvel's titles have been weak. Red Hulk started out exciting but turned to a boring bust, The Avengers was promising but was weakened by the event tie-ins, Iron Man is still on the same path which is kind of a rut at this point. The House of Ideas is boring IMHO at the moment.

Part of me wonders if we'll see an Owlman placed in legitimately through Detective and if the death of the mayoral candidate will turn out to be staged and he is part of it.

Yeah, as for Superman, i've been quite disappointed. I've admittedly never read any Superman before other than Birthright (which i loved)

Birthright was fantastic but Superman has been declining since then in all of his books. The new Superman books don't seem to be changing that status quo.

I'm gonna be dropping both Action Comics and Superman from my pull list. Neither one does anything for me.

I prefer Detective Comics to Batman so far, but only slightly.

I really like Teen Titans as well. Also, Animal Man and Swamp Thing have been great so far.

Justice League, while I do enjoy Lee's artwork, the story has been horrible.

I'll collect all 3 Batman series and Justice League. And I'll collect All Star Western and a few others until I lost interest. Kudos to DC Comics
