Nice! I saw that new Action #1 while I was picking up my issues this past week. I like the black and white with the image of Superman in full color. Really nice design wise.
And I have to say that I have thourghly enjoyed the books that I have picked up so far. I've never been a Wonder Woman solo story reader but I just love the new WW series so far. Her story reminds me of Xena/Hercules shows I used to watch as a kid that I just loved to watch. So glad Kevin was Hercules instead of Superman on a side note.
The only comic that I just don't like is David Finch's Batman. I just can't get into this book for some reason. And was Damon always a brat in the Batman issues prior to the DCnU? I didn't read much after Batman's "death" but I can not stand Damon. He reminds of Jason Todd and I can not wait for another death in the family story with this guy. Call me stuck in the Nineties but Tim Drake is my Robin of choice.
Superman's run so far is interesting as well.
While Action seems to rehashing Birthright/Secret Origins themes (which is okay as there is enough new there for me to stay interested) the main title reminds me of the old Bryne issues with the Lois and Clark rival angle. I forgot how much I missed that!

So far I'm enjoying the new Justice League
Detective Comics batman and the New Action Comics :) Nice writings on those books so far :)

I guess someone (besides Geoff Johns) has to be enjoying the Justice League story, so far.

Into Month 3, this is how I currently rank the New 52 books (well, the titles I've read anyway):

  1. ANIMAL MAN
  2. SWAMP THING
  3. ALL-STAR WESTERN
  4. AQUAMAN
  5. BATMAN
  6. DETECTIVE COMICS
  7. VOODOO
  8. DC UNIVERSE PRESENTS
  9. I, VAMPIRE
  10. WONDER WOMAN
  11. FRANKENSTEIN, AGENT OF S.H.A.D.E.
  12. BATGIRL
  13. GREEN LANTERN
  14. SUICIDE SQUAD
  15. JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK
  16. NIGHTWING
  17. SUPERGIRL
  18. BATMAN AND ROBIN
  19. TEEN TITANS
  20. THE FLASH
  21. BATMAN: THE DARK KNIGHT
  22. SUPERMAN
  23. BATWOMAN
  24. ACTION COMICS
  25. GREEN LANTERN CORPS
  26. GREEN ARROW
  27. MEN OF WAR
  28. RED HOOD AND THE OUTLAWS

  32. DEMON KNIGHTS
  33. JUSTICE LEAGUE
  34. BATWING
  35. CATWOMAN

Unsure. If it continues to be even remotely as successful as it is now, they'll most likely just continue the numbers and consider this "Vol. 2" of all the pre-existing titles.

As far as the continuity and status quo of the canon... as always, that can change at any time.

Volume 2.

This is volume 5 for GL as the title has been "rebooted", "relaunch" or "restarted" 4 times before. Volume 7 for Aquaman, technically volume 4 for the Justice League (although they've changed the name each time), Volume 3 for Justice League International, Volume 3 for Supergirl, Volume 4 for Batgirl, Volume 4 for Wonder Woman, Volume 4 for Superboy, Volume 7 or 8 depending on how harsh you are on title for the Legion of Superheroes, etc.

The only ones to really be in Volume 2 without being a new title simply renumbered are Action Comics and Detective Comics.

This number is nowhere near continuity as it hasn't been in the past, there'll be some sort of event that'll renumber everything and I'm sure some number that reverts back to old numbering a few years down the road.

Remember, though, that this is the Dan DiDio/Jim Lee DC we're talking about. Expecting anything to make common sense is unfortunately unrealistic. The (so far) success of the New 52 has been completely in spite of DC's leadership.

I still tend to agree with this. Probably already plotted out (in a very haphazard, sloppy way, of course). Just a matter of when and how. Probably won't be soon, though.

They've already eluded (clumsily) at the first event by the hooded woman who fully appeared in Flashpoint 5 and has been making full cameos in all the titles. I'm assuming that was the "out" if the New 52 didn't work but who knows what will happen past that.

I wouldn't be shocked that if/when we go back to old continuity it doesn't take elements of the New 52 with it permanently.

Funny reading through the last few pages and gauging everyones opinions (I'm simply a Bat dude, so Batman and Detective Comics are all I'm interested in, thus all i'm reading).

Gotta say, Detective Comics #3 almost lost me. In fact, I'm trying to think of one element (art not included as the book is drawn beautifully) to praise. Everything felt cheap, easy and often times, just plain wrong. From the things Batman did to the things he did not do.... the writing was all over the place, leaving plot points and threads flapping in the wind as if they were the Dark Knights cape itself. And all that stuff about the Dollmaker's true identity / backstory, kinda just came out of no where, and came fast. I was loving it up to then (with both previous issues leaving us with crazy last pages to ponder - but neither went anywhere, though what's happening with Joker is still something I'm curious about - last issues gordon reveal was just a red herring. I mean, compare the last pages of issues 1 & 2 to the last page of 3 and I think that just about sums up how lacking this latest entry was).

I'll keep reading as I really was enjoying it, and as previously stated - huge Bat guy - but Batman is far and away the better book currently in my mind. Hopefully its third issue is better than Detective Comics', and hopefully that book gets back on track.

Just my two cents tho...

Batman is the better of the books, because it has, by far, the better writer. Scott Snyder is great. And as solid as his work on Batman is, Swamp Thing is even better. He and Jeff Lemire are killing it right now. I'd read anything by those 2 guys. They alone make most other DC books (and all Marvel books) amateur in comparison.

Yep. Still on the shipping list for tomorrow

Sweet, cant wait to pick that up. The first issue was actually one of my favourite of the "new" dc comics. Even though i know its not technically part of the whole new 52 thing.

Also, just got Nightwing issue's 1 and 2. Never read Nightwing before but wanted to give it a shot and thought it'd be a good place to start.

EDIT: Just started reading Nightwing #1 and as soon as what i assume is the main villain appeared i think i know who it is. Hope i'm not right, as that would be really obvious and quite lazy. Anyone else been reading Nightwing?

I hope not. It'd be really obvious and cliched, i want to be guessing till the last minute. So hoping its not who i think as im really liking the first two issues so far. As i said, i've never read Nightwing, and was never really a fan of Robin when he was around, but i really feel like im getting invested in the character from the first couple of issues.

I got Penguin: Pain & Prejudice #2 today, and whilst I don't think it was as strong as issue 1 it was still a great read - lots of Penguin backstory to absorb and the artwork is still excellent.
I particularly liked the opening pages and the later scene with the popstar.
My only negative would be that in some places it seemed difficult to interpret what exactly was happening, though saying that I did possibly read it too quickly to make a fair judgement though so I'm going to have a proper read again tomorrow!

Picked up Green Lantern 3 today and Penguin: Pain and Prejudice #2. Only got a chance to read Green Lantern and the few Marvel comics I picked up. Green Lantern was probably my favorite issue so far of the first 3. Good stuff. Hopefully Penguin doesnt dissapoint. I absolutely loved the first issue.
