Read Swamp Thing this week just as amazing as usual!! If any of you all arent reading Snyders other books Severed or American Vampire I would check them out, they are great. Hes becoming my favorite writer. I havent disliked anything hes done so far.

Is something wrong, that will all the great artists, and hot female heroes, Harley is my "favorite" ?

Just got my issue 4's of Superman, Teen Titans and All Star Western. Only read Superman so far, it started well but quickly became the same quality as the rest of the series so far. Which, to me is quite uninteresting. A real shame as I was looking forward to this being a good way for me to finally start reading Superman.
So, does anyone have any recommendations for other Superman stories or GN's to read for a Superman novice? So far I've just read Birthright, and loved it.

Anyone reading The Flash?

Read #4 yesterday and it was good that they cleared up a lot of the story so far. Kept my interest (like Superman did) for another month at least

Just read the new Detective Comics. Anyone know why the Batman story's length to add a Catwoman one?

Yeah, I was wondering that too. Can't say I liked it either. Heck, I was pissed when they started doing that with All Star Western after the first issue. I want more Hex, less crap-I've-never-head-of-before!

This really bothered me too with All Star Western. Its one of my favourite titles and it really annoys me that the issues are basically shorter than they could be so rhey can add in some lame story about a character that, to me, genuinely seems like a comedy character.

I'm not really a fan of shortening stories to add in back-up features at all, since essentially what you are interested in and paying for is the main title.
It depends on the content of the back-up feature of course, but if it were of a character I had absolutely zero interest in then I'd be a slightly peeved.
Wonder if this is going to be a regular feature of Detective now?

Man i hope not. If i buy Detective Comics i wanna read about Batman. If i buy All Star Western, i wanna read about Jonah Hex and Jeremiah Arkham and their exploits in 1800's Gotham, not some lame "extra". I really found the whole El Diablo thing a bit rubbish.

Great, more backup stories. :monkey2

edit: This is all to justify them jacking the prices up to $3.99: https://robot6.comicbookresources.c...detective-comics-expand-to-40-pages-in-april/ :monkey2

:cuss :cuss :banghead

At $3.99, I *might* stick with Batman, but Detective is gone.

Oh man, didnt realise they were jacking the price up. I think they'd have been better off releasing the court of owls back up as its own little mini-series to accompany the story. I'm sure i'll stick with Batman as i am loving the current story, so i'll keep buying, but Detective has to seriously up its game to keep me interested with a higher price. I was already considering dropping it if the quality didnt improve a bit, but if they're raising the price, it'll have to improve a lot.

^ I agree with you completely... Detective better pull something special out of the bag to keep me interested, especially if the price is going up. Doesn't look like a promising start to this new story-arc from the reviews I've read though which is discouraging...

I got my copy of Detective yesterday and after finishing it I was very disappointed.
I was happily reading the main story and then wham! it suddenly ended halfway through the book. I even knew the main story was going to be shorter thanks to there being a back-up story, but I didn't think it was going to be that short. The cover was also very misleading since the main story had nothing to do with a Batman/Penguin/control over Gotham rivalry. This new story arc definitely suffered for not having the usual amount of pages. The back-up story was actually better than I was expecting it to be, albeit not what I wanted or paid for.
If I hadn't read about it in this thread, I wouldn't have known about there being a back-up story in this issue beforehand. If I'd read this issue without knowing that, I think I'd be even more disappointed with it having not been prepared for a shorter main story. In fact, DC didn't even mention the story would be half it's size/have a back-up on the description page of the official site which I find to be a tad underhanded.
Anyway, if next months issue has a half-size story again then I won't be buying it and I'll be dropping Detective altogether.

^Was gonna PM you and see if you had read it yet. Just been really busy at work. I felt the exact same way. I actually thought the story was ok and was going along anjoying it, then it suddenly ended and I was like "what the hell?" I did enjoy the little extra at the end and was interesting seeing Hugo Strange, but I think it would have been better if the maiin story was its usual length, then had that extra at the end. It just felt like the main story was waayyy too short.

Another strong issue of pain and prejudice though.

No worries! :) Yeah, the main story was just ridiculously short, especially considering it's supposed to be the start of a new story arc. If it had the normal amount of pages I think it could have been quite a decent story too, but as it is there just wasn't enough of it.

Pain and Prejudice on the other hand was excellent yet again. I love this series. The stories and artwork have been consistently great, and this issue inparticular has been one of the best IMO. Will be sad to see this come to an end next month....

Yeah, I decided after reading Detective #5 that I'm not going to wait for the price hike to drop it. The book is garbage. I'll stick with Batman.
