Case Zero

Dead Rising 2 prequel, Case Zero, is much more than a glorified demo you have to pay for. The game bridges the gap between the first and second titles and gives gamers a taste of everything new Dead Rising 2 has to offer.

Unfortunately, Case Zero remains, at least for now, an Xbox 360 exclusive, Capcom tells Kotaku.

Case Zero kicks off in the desert town of Still Creek, introducing Dead Rising 2 protagonist Chuck Greene and his daughter, Katie, as the two deal with a zombie outbreak in the isolated town. Set two years after the Willamette incident of Dead Rising and Frank West and three years before the game show zombies of Dead Rising 2, Case Zero, Capcom's Keiji Inafune promises, will "bridge the gap" between the two games. If that means we'll find out what happened to West, Capcom wasn't saying, but it would be nice.

It will take about three hours, Inafune told Kotaku, to rush through Case Zero, but as with Dead Rising a player could spend much more time exploring and killing zombies. And there will be some sort of reward for those gamers who play Case Zero and then move on to Dead Rising 2, Capcom said.
What's most intriguing about Case Zero, though, isn't the tantalizing chance that we might finally hear what happened to West and the zombies of Willamette, but what the prologue means for future Capcom titles.

"I have always had doubts about doing a demo," Inafune said. "Everyone seems to want to do them. Rather than create a demo for Dead Rising 2 I wanted to set up a different area and let people see what the game play is like.

"This is definitely a test case."

It's an intriguing idea: The notion of delivering a full story and hours of gameplay as a standalone purchase rather than handing out a short, abbreviated taste of a game as a demo.

And I'm not sure how I feel about it.

Sounds interesting...looks like you might get some unlockables for DR2 if you play it

I never managed to finish the story mode on the first one, but I did spend many hours running around wrecking havoc in it. I think my favorite weapons were the katana and the dumbbell.

Cant wait to shoot some more zombies.

My favorite were the Small Chainsaws that you get for defeating Adam the clown. You get the 3 books that add +27 times more durability and they almost never break.

Nice. I think I might need to revisit this game and complete it before the sequel is released. Does it matter if you rescue every survivor or not?? I could never get them all and would end up with an entire party following me through the crowds of zombies only to have all but one or two get killed.

No, you don't have to save anybody, but it helps you level up every time you save somebody.

What you could do, what I did, is get the zombie genecidor achievement FIRST...go to the maintenance tunnels and run over 55,000 (or however many it is), then start a new game and you'll have the mega man blaster which makes the game WAY easier PLUS you'll be a pretty high level to start the game as well

Dead Rising 2 Gets Sexy With Playboy Branding
Written Friday, June 11, 2010 By Richard Walker

Remember those books in Dead Rising that Frank West would stop and read to gain extra skills? Well some of them are set to get a bit of an upgrade as they'll be adopting the pleasing guise of Playboy magazines.

Dead Rising 2's hero Chuck will be able to pick up the mags to gain bonuses to help keep the zombie horde at bay in the same way West did years ago in the first Dead Rising.

The iconic Playboy brand will also extend to billboards showing covers from the magazine's 57-year history as well as ladies dressed in the legendary Playboy Bunny garb. For escort missions perhaps?

"The Sin City-type environment in Dead Rising 2, Fortune City, is a natural playground for the Playboy Bunnies," said Seon King, Senior Director of Licensing for Capcom. "We have integrated the Playboy brand throughout the game in ways that bring even more life to Fortune City and add to the user experience."

Dead Rising 2 is out in September 2010.

Zombrex Dead Rising Sun Movie Coming This Summer
Written Friday, June 25, 2010 By Richard Walker

Primarily a promotional tie-in for Dead Rising 2, Zombrex Dead Rising Sun is a movie written and directed by Capcom's global head of research and development, Keiji Inafune.

Following two brothers amid a zombie outbreak in Japan, the movie is played out entirely in first-person, with quite possibly the dodgiest acting and English voice-over we've ever come across.

Exploring the "darker side of human nature", the movie riffs on 1960s and 70s zombie flicks as well as the Dead Rising games, obviously.

Zombrex Dead Rising Sun will be released for free as eight downloadable episodes in Europe and North America this summer, and as well as an English-voiced version, there will be French, Spanish and Italian subtitled versions too.

Check out the Zombrex Dead Rising Sun trailer right here.

Looks terrible, but will probably make me laugh

Hahaha I saw this video a while ago...it's sooo bad, but cool at the same time. The game I hope will be awesome. I know the first one is supposed to be great, but I can't suffer through it long enough to start enjoying it.

DAMN CONSOLE EXCLUSIVES!!!

The DLC is Xbox 360 only...:(

I'm just glad the main game is coming out on PS3, or I might have to shoot up the place...
