Well i finally had the time to finish this today. The game was good enough. Solid well put together experience...but honestly I was a little disappointed with it. Everything seemed so uninspired, like it was just Dead Space for the sake of being Dead Space. That's as far as I can describe my feelings towards it...can't quite nail down whats missing though.

With the last two, as soon as I finished, I felt the urge to immediately start playing another round....not with this one...I just don't know

I kind of felt the same way. A lot of it seemed to be the pacing was off in certain areas. The start is basically playing space engineer for too long then certain parts of the middle on the planet dragged. The last 1/3 of the game seemed to have far better pacing.

What I'll probably do is play individual chapters co-op with a couple buddies of mine, it'd be a better experience that way. At least then I can mess around with making guns.

It definitely suffered from trying to make it more of an action game over more of a horror game.

I had the same exact feeling. With the first two, as soon as I beat it, I thought, "Oh man, I want to do that again right now!" With 3 it was like, "Well, I have no other new games, I'll play this one again."

I think I'm actually enjoying it a lot more the second go around, mostly because I know what to expect from the game. It's a disappointment compared to the first two, but still a very good game.

Once you get on the Roanoke, I think the game gets really good. From the Roanoke to the
crash landing - also do we still need spoilers?
was my favorite part of the game. The abandoned ships had a really creepy vibe that almost captured the DS feel.

Definitely. Like I said, it's still a very good game, but it has some pacing issues, and definitely isn't a very good horror game.

Also the game was a little TOO predictable, not necesarily in where the story was going, but what was going to happen to certain characters
(Like Santos on the elevator)
. And when a room was dedicated to a Necromorph assault.

I did very much enjoy the final few chapters. Being a huge fan of Lovecraft,
I enjoyed the dead alien city and the Moon Creature. That was pretty rad

Yeah, when
Buckell died, I thought it wasn't a good sign, since he was the character I liked most by that point. I figured since I was liking Santos, she was next. As soon as everyone but her was off the elevator, you knew what was up. I didn't really care for Carver until about 2/3 in, but I grew to like him a lot. Not doing co-op certainly slowed that, I'm sure.

Yeah, I didn't play co-op either, but I did read one of the prequel comics (Dead Space Liberation) which features Carver, so I got a bit more insight into his character. I'd assume co-op would only enhance that, Which i'm intending to play in the coming days.

With co-op, is the entire game available as co-op, or only those things that pop up in green and say "Invite a friend to play this mission"?

My problem with co-op is I have no one I know that plays this. And playing with randoms always involves setting a chunk of time aside, dealing with other people's time / schedules, etc. As opposed to my usual video game playing MO of "I turn it on when I want to play and turn it off when I'm done."

Finished the game tonight. A fun and solid entry in this series of games. It wasn't quite as scary but it was pretty darn fun all the same. I liked the little add on after staying around for the credits. I hope this isn't the end of the series.

I'm 90% into my second playthrough, and I only now realized that Ellie's right eye is a differently-colored cyber implant.

:lol I had a similar moment, but I noticed it a bit earlier. When I first saw her though I thought, "okay...did they completely forget she got her eye poked out? what the heck" and was a little irritated... but then I noticed the color difference. She totally should have had an eyepatch.

When they first showed her before the game came out, I thought it was odd they didn't address the eye. I just assumed we were meant to think, "Well, technology!" But the color difference lets us figure it out for ourselves without being too obvious.

They actually mention the eye implant in one of the first in game text memos you receive when you are just leaving Isaac's apartment. Can't remember the exact text, but it is highlighted in there...

I just finished the game. The final boss was tooo easy! The game as a whole was alright. 7.5 out of 10 for me!

Dead Space - 8.5 out of 10
Dead Sapce 2 - 9.0 out of 10

finished it yesterday too and i did enjoy it but it wasnt as scary as 1 or 2. in the first 2 games you felt tense cuz you never knew what was gonna come at you. i guess the shotgun made things too easy, still a very fun game.

A new screenshot from Dead Space: Awakened (an upcoming DLC expansion on DS3...look at dat beast!

Must've missed that one.

Same. In DS1, I read all the text logs (despite having an SDTV, and the text was like, size 2 font). By the time I've gotten to 3, I tend to skim them at best.
