It's a great game IMO.

Just too many haters out there because of HALO/X-BOX *****yness and also because most people played a good size chunk of it for free a month ago and were expecting to be blown away again by the same experience. Seriously have a read on the official App/forum. It's full of arsey 20 year olds who hate it because PS4 got preference from Bungie.

Almost everyone was obsessed with both the Alpha and Beta, it doesn't make sense that it suddenly isn't as good.
More planets and more story will come, that's the nature of the experience.

So, I've been playing since Tues, level 25 and having played everything except the Glass Raid here are my thoughts: as of launch, there is simply too little to do. Expectations were very high, cause lets face it, this is Bungie. Nothing short of the second coming was going to satisfy my expectations.

What I love: controls, overall interface, and the graphics are all excellent. No issues with how it looks or plays. If this was the only critiera for a score, it'd easily get a 10.

What I have issues with: story or lack thereof. Missions are disjointed and frankly the game is just too small. I was expecting the same size as Borderlands 2, but this game is probably a 1/3 that size or maybe 1/2, Once you play the story missions 3 times each, I find myself unmotivated to play it again for the hope of a purple or exotic drop.

The ugly: the tower is a huge fail - its not the social center of the game, and the sole purpose to go there is for buying stuff. huge fail with the tower. No Ai interaction with anyone. I still know nothing of all the characters a week later. Another issue: I had a guy trying to do a gold gun mission and the level at which hoops had to be jumped was unrealistic: 500 crucible kills, another 500 of fallen or other and a level 26 raid that isn't possible as a level 25-27 with three people.

Bottom line: Destiny has shown me just how incredible Borderlands 2 was, as of launch. Small, little to do and total lack of story just kill any ungoing enjoyment, past week 1

Is this game another in a long line of game where a season pass is needed to get the 'full experience?' Yes, it seems so. Gone are the days of $60 games. Now, its $90-$110 with passes factored in. $60 gets you a very enjoyable, albeit limited, experience.

my review as of launch: 75/100

Anyone get into the area in the tower behind the "vented" doors? The courtyard type of place? I got in there in the Beta but can't remember how?

Yeah, I agree with most of this. My buddy and I were just talking about how this feels like it wants to be Borderlands, but only illustrates how awesome BL really is.

Bungies latest update has public events occurring twice as often now.
The game has pulled in 325 million already and is now the best selling newest franchise ever.

I enjoy it.

Currently level 20. Need buddies to play 11pm eastern most nights. Add me WakeDGN is my psn id

Glad I didn't buy a PS4 for this game. Would not have been worth it at all. Still, it's fun with friends.

Anyone think the digital guardian edition is worth it? $90 and you get the expansion, game and some dlc. The pass is $35 by itself. Thanks!

Very fair assessment.

It seems to me at some point that Bungie just "gave up" on building the story.

I'm already Level 10, at the moon and there is little to no "substance" to really drive me forward. I'm a gamer who NEEDS a story, it doesn't have to be grandiose or filled with 20 min. cutscenes like Metal Gear and Final Fantasy were, but adding some is nice and gives "drive" to why your character does what he/she does.

I hate to go back to the Borderlands example, but that's one of the best. Borderlands did a good job of making an interesting world while leaving tidbits of story here and there (like getting the audiologs) along with cutscenes and even the quests dealt with story and character (like getting Tiny Tina's revenge on the murderer of her parents...though later on you learn the person who hired the killer was Handsome Jack). Even Diablo III was a game crafted rich with lore and history and I played the old ones as well but there was enough to know WHY you're fighting evil and all the characters that surround you.

I'm not a hater, there are MANY positive things about this game. But Bungie/Activision went all "Peter Molyneux" on this game. It is NOT all that they talked it up to be and suffers from many problems that you wouldn't expect from a "Triple-A" developer like Bungie. I've seen some people talk about how "it lays a good foundation" and "they're going to add more here and there"...blahblah...sorry, they might, but they've already failed on the story and character development and are just about throwing events and raids out to keep people playing and POSSIBLY buying more DLC. You shouldn't have to pay $60+ for a "good foundation"...you should be getting the whole house. Yeah, you can add things here and there, but I've paid less than $60 and gotten games with more substance than this.

I am having fun grinding away as the mechanics are an enjoyable experience. I can get by with a lack of story but would enjoy understanding the Destiny world around me more.

Story..yeah,my bud is a big story guy (I'm not as much) and he's been really disappointed with Destiny. The cards are the biggest insult to him. "Please visit this website to learn more about the game you're playing right now". Would it really have been that tough to put the cards inthe game so you could read them in game at your leisure? Seems really lazy.

This is actually huge for me. Why do this, I wonder? Why leave my game to go learn about the game? Guess they really want you to use the app

Agreed...why do I need to go to the website? It even shows you how many Grimoire cards your friends have collected. What difference does it make? That should be IN-GAME stuff.

Ubisoft tried the website interaction with Assassins' Creed and called it "Assassins' Creed Initiates". It lasted for about two years and then it was shut down after they tried to update it and link it to Black Flag gameplay. EA did their EA online stuff and that backfired as well when they got hacked.

Still playing this game just a little each day. Trying to get into Crucible; hit my 100 max for the week though. Why punish players for wanting to play?
