Your sig and avatar is Drive. That's not a mindless drivel movie. It's a film that is meant to be analyzed, and looked at. Every shot, every scene, has something go on in it. Weather it's metaphorical, or on a character level.

So why shouldn't I do the same with Die Hard? One of the greatest action films of all time? That movie has some great character moments, that you rarely ever get any more.

And by people, I mean people. Some people don't like it. Some people do. I just said people. People don't like the new Die Hards because they're retarded. Are you trying to say that dislike doesn't exist? Every movie has fans, and people who don't like it.

I don't understand why the critics enjoyed the film. It doesn't make a lot of sense, because it's on the level of an average Michael Bay movie. It's quite baffling.

Why are you comparing Die Hard with Drive? :lol Drive tells a story through it's sharp directing and focus, with very little dialouge, that's what makes it so unique. I would in no way expect any of that in a DH film. You're telling me When you watch a Die Hard movie, you thoroughly analyze it and expect something metaphorical? :dunno

Again you say people don't like Die hard 4. But that's where your wrong, the majority of "PEOPLE" like Die Hard 4. Im not going to argue with one of the few people that don't like it. Imo it's a great movie.

Do you think Die Hard 4 is in the same league as the first film?

Thought I would get in on this.

What action film is in the same league as Die Hard??

That being said Die Hard 4 is the second best of the series. I will never understand the Hate it gets. Especially when you have the crap fest that is Die HArd 2 waving it's arms saying "Look at me!! Look at Me!!!!"

I see so many hate on DH4 but give a big pass to DH2. Renny Harlin is a Hack and DH2 has not aged well and has passed into the world of unwatchable films for me.

Oh and I hat what I am reading about DH5. I will still go see it but I am expecting the worst. Perhaps even worse then DH2.

At the moment i would rank them, 1, 3, 4 and then 2.

The first ones a classic, hands down, one of the best action movies of all time, and the 3rd one is a real return to form and has some great moments. The 4th one has its faults, but it also has some very slick action and effects, i enjoy it for what it is. The 2nd ones an okay action movie, doesnt hold up to well IMO.

This one im really hype for, they went more grounded (it seems) I think him and his son have some good chemistry, im eexcited to see it! I mean McClane is an action star! I want to see him in the next Avengers! LOL

DH3 woould be better if he actually fough the bad guys but instead he just runs around playing Simon's game. Sam Jackson is only there to be Sam Jackson. There is very little Banter between John and Simon thus taking away a lot of potential fun for the film. It's Ok but it actually feels the least like a Die Hard film to me. I am sure that it's because it lacks the McClain vs Bad guys face to face part of it. However the seen in the Elevartor with the three bad guys is a great moment in the film. I wish they had more like it rather then just John running around NY looking for bombs. To much time was spent with the other cops also. I watch these films for John not other heros :)

Die Hard 3 would've better with the alternate ending, shooting that copter blade with that snub nose was just stupid.
Nothing wrong with DH 2 except the Col. doing tai chi naked and using his remote as a weapon lol. Great one liners and an epic shootout at the skywalk annex and who doesn't love an icicle in the eye? Down and dirty scrapper bites the generals hand and spits it back at him, that's vintage McClane. John still got his *** handed to him on the wing but still pulls out the win in McClane style.

You know what...I'm sorry. While Die Hard 4 isn't what I would call "a great movie"....far...far from it.....it's a movie. A 3 act, beginning, middle, end...movie.

A Good Day to Die Hard? It's got a beginning. And a middle. And that's it.

Without a doubt, one of the worst movies ever made. Not only that, but Fox ****ed up something, because there weren't ANY subtitles. (I looked it up, other film goers had the same issue)....for some reason....it was really ****ing weird. I'm sure it was below the screen, but the weirdest part was only ONE subtitle came up high enough to read.
ONE SUBTITLE.

But even then....there was no goal. There was no point. The climax to the film is the middle of the film. I laughed at pretty much everything, because everything was ****ing idiotic. The action was a chore to get through. The film was visually disgusting to watch. It was a painful experience.

I couldn't find single good moment in this series of moving images.
0/10.

You can all say what you want. I don't even care at this point. I'm so disgusted. So utterly disgusted. I dare you to say it felt like a Die Hard movie with a straight face.

Oh and I loved how they dubbed Bruce Willis half the movie. They even through in the "IS THAT YOUR BEST SHOT" from LFDH just for kicks. So great.

So that's two franchise I love, killed in 2 days. Thanks Fox. Thank you so much.

I've always said that, after Die Hard 3: With A Vengeance, John McClane ceased being the character he was in the first three and was more Bruce Willy, invincible action hero.

He acts more like cliched Bruce Willis than he does the rough around the edges, under dog NY cop, John McClane.

In the first one, he's very much the underdog. He's in new territory (LA) and nobody likes him. He gets his *** handed to him and barely gets out of Nakatomi alive with all the injuries he's sustained from the "terrorists". He's so sure that he's going to die after all the beatings he took that he tells Al to tell Holly that he loved her.

Second one, he has to go up against Special Forces who turn out to be the bad guys. None of the cops or security believe him when he thinks there is trouble and they think he's a piece of ****. The Special Forces just killed innocent people on a plane and his wife will suffer the same fate if he's not careful. He's again beaten to a pulp by men with military training.

Third one, McClane is an alcoholic (suffering from a hangover during the events of the film), who is on the verge of losing his family and has had his badge suspended. He looks like a piece of ****. What's the first thing we see him do? He's trying to recover from his hangover but he's called into work to go into Harlem with a racist, "I hate ******s" sign. The look of fear and death is all over his face and this is just the start of his long miserable day.

By the 4th one, it's just bald Bruce Willis, laughing at the face of death, making funny come backs and using a ton of one liners. It's almost like he's broken the 4th wall. His family are now modern film stars, he's seemingly invincible and mocks Kevin Smith's "command center". This one looks no different.

I can see why people say "he ain't John McClane" or "this is an action flick with Bruce Willis, not a Die Hard movie".

Oh by god it is. Live Free or Die Hard is a goddamn master piece compared.

And i'm talking about the PG-13 version. I came out of that movie, annoyed, but going "eh.". I came out of this, FUMING. And baffled. I'm truly baffled.

I can think of one good quality about A Good Day to Die Hard: it was short, very short; which, by itself, seems like a negative quality, but not after you've sat through the first four installments and are ready for bed.:lol I just hope that, before Willis retires the role completely, Fox finds somebody who can give McClane the last hurrah that he deserves.

I saw it last night in IMAX, i thought it was awesome? Some really massive action sequences, sometimes it gets a little over the top but no more than Live Free did IMO, i really enjoyed it, is it better than the orginal? HELL NO! But is it a good entry in the franchise? Yeah i think it is

I figured it wasn't as bad as people have been saying. I'm still going to see it and judge for myself. I'm not expecting much, so I'll probably enjoy it.

The reviews are brutal over at rottentomatoes. One trailer, no preview screenings for critics... it looked like they were hiding a stinker. Now it's confirmed.

Would you look at that!
The Josh giving DH2 some love...
Why do you rate 2 as tops even over 1?

Yeah, I love DH 2. Not that I don't dig part 1.

Movie vs Movie they're really about the same. I just really dig the whole airport, air plane, military (not being good guys), etc. stuff more.

Yeah exactly! Judge it for yourself! I mean its a Die Hard movie, not gone with the wind. I tend to be optimistic tword genre movies i enjoy but besides some minor things its a fun ride.

Yep. I don't understand how some are so let down by movies like this. You mean to tell me that the FIFTH Die Hard movie isn't nearly as good as the original(s)? :lol
