People have been asking for Mickey and I was thinking that would be one I could pass on -but you've stumbled upon the version of Mickey I'd have to have.

He'd look cool with a Gandalf the Grey PF too...
A regular Mickey I can also do without, but the Sorcerer's Apprentice is an absolute must have for me. The exclusive can be a broom carrying buckets of water!! :rock

Yeah I think I would prefer a Sorcerer Mickey over a regular also. I just loved that costume on him, and the cartoon was awesome! Love the idea of the broom with buckets of water as the Ex. Ill!! :rock2

Well if you're going to get more rooms you might as well go for the life size Big Fig Sorcerer's Mickey that comes with the water carrying broom. And while you're at it get the Steamboat Willy one too. :lol

I see what you're saying, but I also think the PF lends itself to a more reality based approach. Personally I'd prefer a Beast that has fur rather than fully sculpted. I'd like to see more details in the costumes too then is shown in animation.

I'd actually prefer that to be sculpted, so that you can get the exact look and shape of the fur or hair mixed with the real cloth that then gives the impression of motion and flow of the character.
All in all its not going to be easy to pull off, but if they do, the animated PF's could be amazing.

As for 'style', I'd want the characters to look as if it was the movie poster for the film. They still 'look' just like the character came off the cell, but there is more detail, finer/softer painting. Sort of how the whole film could have looked, but the cost in drawing and painting would have made it impractical.
I think that a PF with flat cell colours and no real 'detail' would look very plain.

I am interested to see how much detail is put into certain aspects of an animated figure. For example, do female figures get the porcelain smooth skin that they have in the film or will there be texture added to make them look more real? What about outfits that in the film are just colors and no apparent style of weave or texture? Take Maleficent I don't think it would look all that impressive with simple flat cottons in black and purple. They should use velvets and fabric with a print or something.

I think in the video they addressed how they were going to tackle the clothing in terms of the difference between animated clothing and real world cloth. I can't remember exactly what they said.

Personally I agree that I would like a little bit of interpretation as to what kind of cloth their clothes are made of. For instance with Sleeping Beauty they should use fine materials for her as a Princess in her ball gown, but cheaper fabrics for her as Briar Rose.

The way GG handled the Disney dragons is how I hope they do these PFs. The dragons had all the charm of the original animated versions, but they were more real world. Even Elliot from Pete's dragon had a certain menace that a creature of that size would have in the real world. I'm really sad they didn't continue with this line - although I don't know how many more dragons there are in Disney.

I think they might have got them all. And I don't think I want them to handle the license that way. A little more real world I would be okay with, but I want it to look alot like the animation. Maybe if I saw a few examples of what it may look like I might change my mind.

See that is exactly what I'm afraid of. I didn't like those so much. If they are paying for a Disney license just make it look like Disney characters. If they want to get creative why pay for a license at all? Why not create their own characters and go for broke? If SS wants to expand their customer base they are not going to win over Disney fans by doing "extreme "versions of Disney animated characters. Those fans for the most part are very particular about how Disney products look. I remember reading a message board on the Enesco WDCC products and there were people picking apart that stuff. And most of that is dead on model. I guess it depends on what you like. We really wont know for sure until they actually post some product. Then let the picking apart begin.

This sort of helps to show what I mean:

Take for example the scales on Ariels tail, they are all there in detail, but if you look at her in the actual film, you see very little of that. Her hair, the skin tone of all the main characters have much more highlights, lines, gradations in tone and shading, etc compared to the more flat cell painting in the actual film.
However, they are still very much the same characters, the overall drawings are as animators say 'on model'. Then combine that with the right material that has the silk texture or velvet texture or whatever and you should (if SS do it right and QC doesn't get stuffed up in production) end up with a more 'real' or life like, animated character.
In many ways, this almost doesn't apply to Who Framed Roger Rabbit, since as part of the film, they did much of this in order to place 'cartoon' characters into the real world and make it believable.

does anyone know where the link is on sideshows website regarding any information on there new disney pf line please? and also this video u guys are talking about?
