I don't think I want them to make a figure look "real life", but I'm telling you if you make the outfits with only the amount of detail shown in animation, its going to look pretty bland in PF scale.

It would be cool if just as an example, they made Mickey's short's in a felt type material. I've seen smaller figures that have that and it works well, much better than just a simple piece of cloth and has more texture to it.

Felt is fine for cheaper toys, but it tends to fade quite quikly and because of the nature of its construction (pressed rather than woven) it can degrade over time, fall apart and moths love it!

Hat felt is strong, but obviously way too thick.

But I agree about the 'type' of fabric you mean, needs to be smooth and even, brushed cotton could work.

See that is exactly what I'm afraid of. I didn't like those so much. If they are paying for a Disney license just make it look like Disney characters. If they want to get creative why pay for a license at all? Why not create their own characters and go for broke? If SS wants to expand their customer base they are not going to win over Disney fans by doing "extreme "versions of Disney animated characters. Those fans for the most part are very particular about how Disney products look. I remember reading a message board on the Enesco WDCC products and there were people picking apart that stuff. And most of that is dead on model. I guess it depends on what you like. We really wont know for sure until they actually post some product. Then let the picking apart begin.

I would never have bought the dragons if they'd been strict interpretations of the animation - they'd be too toy-like and uninteresting to me. But GG really brought some character to them. In fact I never even considered them until I saw them in person at SDCC.

Yes sir, 'type' is the key word! :) Perhaps something along the lines of crushed velvet, with a slight sheen to it to make it look more expensive. :D

Oh no, it'll be like Star Wars all over again. :slap

I have no doubt that Sideshow will use the appropriate fabrics for this line. I envision them to be similar to the models used in Corpse Bride.

I guess different kinds of people prefer different types - which do you prefer?

I'm surprised the line didn't do well because I really do like what they did with them. Especially Maleficent. I just want the PF's to be more true to the original.

I want them to be acurate to the art also. If they are chances are I will be a completist on this line. If not i'll just pick and choose.

I like the extra detail/shading, etc on the GG one, but it needed to be 'on model' like the WDCC one. So I guess I'm hoping the PF's will be a mix of the two.
Other wise you basically just have the WDCC or Electric Tiki statues, with flat colour, at 1/4 scale (with real cloth added).
While it may work at those smaller scales (pretty sure most of those are 1/6 or smaller), at 1/4 scale large flat area's of solid colour and cloth will just look to plain and boring. Or maybe its just me.

If they add little details like some of the Disney Big Figures, i'll be happy. The Jessica has sparkles on her dress, Tinker Bell has fibre optic wings, and Kermit has flocking, real banjo strings, and light up fire flys. Little stuff like that. :)
