The only Disney characters I'd buy would be Pixar characters...

Mr. Incredible. Sulley. and maybe Buzz Lightyear.

I have no doubt that Sideshow will use the appropriate fabrics for this line. I envision them to be similar to the models used in Corpse Bride.

I have a lot of the Jun Planning figs from The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Corpse Bride and James and the Giant Peach and the clothes on them are pretty damn good. The Bride reviewed here was fantastic, and I love the Pastor Gaswell figure it's still a favourite, he's on permanent display in our dining room.
If SS can look upon dressing them as if they were stop motion replicas of the aimated figures I think that would be a giood starting point. I dont mind some interpretation at all, but I want them to be as close to what we have seen on screen as possible. Though to be fair most of the figs I'd want would be Pixar like Buzz, WALL-E, The Incredibles etc. I wonder if we'll get a working angle-poise lamp balanced on a ball... money for old rope!

I guess different kinds of people prefer different types - which do you prefer?
or this?

This one. I LOVED it, i used to draw him myself in art class, still got the drawings somewhere :lol.

I'm so excited at all this goodness coming out.
I'm gonna order the dragon once I get paid, then I'm getting Roger and I'm already watching a Jessica Rabbit(thanks Ill:duff) to get :duff

So much can be made from this line in both PF or statue form imo :rock
I'm :drool already at the thought of all the characters that could potentially be made.
x :peace

If they add little details like some of the Disney Big Figures, i'll be happy. The Jessica has sparkles on her dress, Tinker Bell has fibre optic wings, and Kermit has flocking, real banjo strings, and light up fire flys. Little stuff like that. :)

That Kermit Big Fig sounds awesome I've never seen it. I'm gonna have to scour the parks to see if there are any there when I go back again. May have to get that one.

I like the extra detail/shading, etc on the GG one, but it needed to be 'on model' like the WDCC one. So I guess I'm hoping the PF's will be a mix of the two.
Other wise you basically just have the WDCC or Electric Tiki statues, with flat colour, at 1/4 scale (with real cloth added).
While it may work at those smaller scales (pretty sure most of those are 1/6 or smaller), at 1/4 scale large flat area's of solid colour and cloth will just look to plain and boring. Or maybe its just me.

:lecture

That GG petes dragon looked cool, but where were the little wings and the goofy face. It compromised the character that I remember. I agree. Update the figure to look nice, but keep it on the character as much as possible.

I also agree about the cloth material. Large patches of flat plain material will look pretty boring. Imagine a Gandalf or Aragorn PF with flat material with no printing, weathering or anything.

My wife and I are huge Disney fans, we even had instrumental Disney songs played for our wedding, Sleeping Beauty themed cake and took our Honeymoon to Disney World. She is psyched about this license and even talked about joining these boards if they did add a Disney specific forum. I have a feeling that not only will this announcement bring a lot of new collectors to Sideshow but also bring new members into these boards.

That sounds like an awesome wedding and honeymoon. Got a picture of the cake? I'd love to see it.

I do actually, at home. It was rolled pink fondant with the Lenox white porcelain Aurora and Philip on top. I'll have to see if I have digital copies on my home computer and I'll upload them later.

I have only seen him once at the Art of Disney store at Downtown Disney. I was about to buy him till i noticed someone broke one of the fire flys off the springs. :(

Hopefully I find another one at the Magic Kingdom next month for visit number 13. :chew

I'll keep my eye open for him when I'm there. Because I'm a season pass holder I get a gift card worth the price of admission in lieu of free admission on my birthday. So I'll be looking for somethig awesome to spend that money on. I think there's an animation store at MGM so I may check there too.

Sounds really awesome, I look forward to the pictures if you have them.

From the "Ask Sideshow"

Q: Since Sideshow has the Disney License, will we see a Rocketeer Premium Format in the future?

A: When you wish upon a star…

I have that Corpse Bride you linked to, but I got her by herself so she's looking straight forward instead of to her right and I like it a lot better that way. I also have Victoria in her wedding dress. I absolutely adore them. :D And I have a Jun Planning Jack Skellington, with a very normal face (he came in a turquoise coffin).

When are these going to start to happen? They have tons of the Disney classic statues on sale, but no word on a PF yet. Are they waiting for SDCC?

We'll definitely see a Jack Sparrow PF. That is the one I'm looking forward to the most. I'll also take an Aladdin PF and whatever they give us for the Lion King. I also really want a Wall-E maquette. :monkey5
