you kinda have to work to get viruses, I don't use virus protection because I don't get viruses and the protection programs really slow down the computer. Other than that there's no maintenance that really needs to be done.

I don't believe that for a second. I have gotten so many viruses on a PC I can't even count them. I have found numerous trojans and other things just from day to day operation. Like I said. I will see if this happens with my new mac. I really don't know what to expect. The truth of the matter is I have found viruses on my PC everytime I used my scanning tool. So we will see what happens.

I have a macbook pro and I lurves it. I used to have a Dell Insiron 8100. The thing is a brick!

Making the switch to mac was seamless for me. It took me absolutely no time to get used to the different operating system, and I've been loving how natral the whole thing feels.

People get viruses from a lot more than just porn. Hell, you can get one just by plugging your computer into a cable network without protection.

I switched from PC to Mac back in 1994 and never looked back!!
I actually have a dual computer at work, with PC for some stuff I need,
and it's really annoying to do even the simplest of tasks...
And I agree, Time Machine is the ^^^^!!!

That's possible, but that would mean someone directly hacking your computer to load a virus. Without someone trying to directly hack your computer the user has to do something to get the virus--open an email, go to a site, install a program.

True, but it doesn't have to be a person initiating the attack. It could be a bot net programmed to attack an entire block of IP addresses. You can't take comfort in thinking "nobody would ever target me."

That may be true for now, but only because it has a small fraction of user/market penetration compared to PC/Windows. The most popular platform is the one malevolent ^^^^^^^s target.
