There is absolutely NOTHING about Macs that make them better at graphics/art programs than a PC

NOTHING.

They are the same. There are lots of places that use them because Final Cut Pro (which is used the most for film editing) is Mac only and so many places use Mac. That's it

All the Adobe products work just fine on Windows, (sometimes better).

Seriously, at my college it must be half the people here that have Macbooks--and you know why? Because they look cool. That's it, then they say that Macs are so much better than Windows PC's and they have no idea what they're talking about.

Now that you have a mac, it's time to invest in an external HD and make use of Time Machine. It's really a fantastic backup app (and built in to OSX, of course): https://www.apple.com/macosx/features/timemachine.html

That way if disaster strikes, you can always "go back in time" or restore a new HD from your backup.

you kinda have to work to get viruses, I don't use virus protection because I don't get viruses and the protection programs really slow down the computer. Other than that there's no maintenance that really needs to be done.
