My friend at Marvel told me it it came down to Benedict being more recognized across the world . He's not big in the US but he's a really big deal across the pond .

Imo Cucumber's acting abilities are leagues above Luke Evans', he has more presence and has a better voice too, seeing how well Marvel nailed the costume and all, I don't see how Evans is in any way a better choice.

While I think LE would have made a fine Dr. Strange, Cumberbatch is looking pretty awesome despite what some of the haters say.

I look forward to seeing Doc Strange on the big screen.

Cucumberbatch was miscast as Khan and was completely unimpressive and over the top in that outing. He is a good Sherlock but he isn't leagues above Evans.
Benedict can do pompous well so he'll get that part of Stephen the world class surgeon down. Luke's physical features and serviceable thespian skills would've been more than adequate. I think his star would've taken off like the rest of the leading Marvel actors had he been cast.

I agree... but alas it wasn't meant to be.

Cumberbatch is a good actor though and he looks better than I imagined he would in the role.

Cumberbatch looks like he's doing cosplay, at least Luke could've used his own hair.

You said it! I too, wanted Luke Evans at first but now I think Cumberbatch will do just fine.

Just to go on record , Im a fan of both actors . I thought Benedict was perfect for the role. The only issue I felt was Cumberbatch was to young for the role but I'm loving the photos .

That's interesting cause I think he actually has the perfect amount of facial hair. Not too little, but not too much either.

Can anyone understand if he's wearing gloves or not? They played an important part in the Strange mythos, as he didn't want the scars on his hands to show, but I think he doesn't have them in those pics. The energy bolts don't help... Ah well, I'm a tad dissapointed that the've adapted the modern (ANAD) costume and not the classic one, but it looks great nevertheless. I'm just hoping they don't go the "magic is quantum mechanics" angle, because it's pretty darn bad. Magic is magic, let's just leave it at that... Now bring on the Hot Toys fig!

You can see his finger nails on his left hand. And the other pics show no glove on his right hand casting. So no gloves. But who knows what changes by the time this movie comes out.

Well I'm surprised. He definitely looks the part more than I expected!

Can't wait to see this. Cumberbatch is talented and this allows him to play in his own "pool" within the Marvel Universe.
