just set it as your signature already and move on.

As I've said before I get the feeling that people such as you would still get on my case even if I continually posted "I think everything about the new series is great" so if you don't like it use the ignore function, I couldn't care less either way.

well I guess "continually" posting anything, as you admit you do is annoying in and of itself, so you might be right.

If you really get that annoyed by mere words on a page then seek help ASAP.

I don't really like but can at least tolerate page after page of "Nu-Who is the greatest thing EVER" type comments on what seems like every single Doctor Who related thread on the entire Internet so why people get so annoyed with my views being somewhat different I don't know

Welly welly welly welly well.

Can we get along. If someone gets offended in a Doctor Who thread thats like 30% of the regular DW posters on this board. Please just get along you guys? The majority of us like the new series and the very vocal minority don't.

I actually thought bcm was posting in a way that was funny and definitely holding back from what he would like to have posted. :lol

i think you need the help if hearing yourself repeat "I do not like nu-who (except for the first 2 seasons)" 80000000000 times on the same thread makes you feel special for being different.

its like your trying to establish yourself as a 1 dimensional personality around here and if anyone missed the previous 7999999999 posts you want to cover the bases.

I'm not trying to be an ass, I just would like to see your character develop. :lol

TBH most of my remarks shouldn't be taken seriously and are 95% of the time really just me letting off steam if I'm having a bad day as typing crap on a message board is considerably healthier than things that I would have done in years gone by.

Though my disappointment with the direction of Nu-Who is real enough, I do exaggerate it a lot and if anything I would hope people just took my remarks as being somewhat tongue in cheek though I realise that's probably not how much of it sounds.

As for criticism as long as it's kept light hearted I don't mind but a couple of people here in the past ( not you ) and at another site more recently chose to get personal which has resulted in me being on the touchy side even if someone's trying to have a laugh about things.

Hope that gives you a better idea of where I'm coming from and I apologise for reacting a bit harshly to what you've said in the past.

PS
I did say I liked the new logo so there's something nice I've said about the show in the last 18 months :lol

alright, i will take it with better humour now.

OK all's cool :)

This past week I've discovered there's a Doctor Who fan group in my area which I'm looking at joining as they often have special guests which have recently included Mary Tamm ( Romana I ) , Sylvester McCoy ( the 7th Doctor ), 1970-74 producer Barry Letts ( the man who hired Tom Baker ), 1969-74 script editor and writer of "Robot" ,"The 5 Doctors" and most of the Target novelisations Terrance Dicks to name but a few.

Next month the guest is Lisa Bowerman who was in the final Classic story "Survival" and also does the voice for Bernice Summerfield in the Big Finish audios ( which I had to look up 'cos I'd never heard of her.)

When I go to my first meeting I think it might be a good idea if I take a big sign saying "Do not under any circumstances ask me anything about Nu-Who post 2006" :D

There's one by me too: https://www.milwaukeetimelords.org/index.htm

I might have to drop by some time.

I was intrested as it's local, cheap ( only a few pounds per meeting ), and has had some decent guests which is good as I've never got enough cash at the same time to be able to pay for the travel and other costs of going to one of the big conventions.

The only thing that's ever held me back was the whole interacting with strangers thing, which I'm not very good at. It seems like there's less pressure at conventions. One of these days I'll check out my local group...

i know what you mean about strangers, but its not so bad, i've been a member of the music group in my signature for almost 10 years, once you go you have a good time chatting and stuff. you just sit next to someone and say hello.

Some old dude in Las Vegas has promised me his complete Doctor Who Target novelizations when he dies.

I'm the same when it comes to meeting new people but am looking at it this way, I'll have something in common with everyone else there ( a liking of Doctor Who ) so finding something to talk about shouldn't be as difficult.

Sad news for Classic fans,

Barry Letts, the show's producer from 1969-74 has passed away at the age of 84.

His contribution to the Whoniverse is possibly unsurpassed, he oversaw the entire Jon Pertwee era, directed a few stories and most importantly was the man who hired Tom Baker to play the 4th Doctor as well as Elisabeth Sladen ( Sarah Jane Smith ), Ian Marter ( Harry Sullivan ) and Katy Manning ( Jo Grant ).

He also returned to the show in the early 80's to oversee JNT's first year as producer and continued to be involved with the show in one aspect or another for the rest of his life, whether writing books or audio plays, doing DVD commentaries or appearing as a guest at various fangroups and conventions.

Compared to today's showrunners who seem more concerned with becoming celebrities themselves than concentrating on making quality television Mr Letts was nothing short of a genius and one has to wonder what he and his staff would have achieved with today's budget and technology because his version of Who is still one of the best.

Cool, Tom Baker is really getting into it!

Are you 'one of them' EC?

Nah, I'd never be dorky enough to dress as Dr. Who. :lol My geekery goes in other directions. I'm only a passing Nu-Who fan - most of the old eps I find entirely unwatchable. I really hope this new incarnation is less creaky slow paced sci fi and more goofy, teen sex farce. :monkey5

No doubt you will get your wish seeing as the modern incarnation of the show is little more than dumbed down garbage for the "trash TV" generation many of whom TV executives seem to think have less of an attention span than a hyperactive 6 year old.

The best of the Classic era is comparable to a five course meal cooked by a gourmet chef, Nu-Who is like a Big Mac & fries that's been left uneaten for a bit too long.
