Looks like for the remaining specials they are going back to the old ways of naming them:

The End of Time, Part One.
The End of Time, Part Two.

I like it. :)

Replace the word "Time" with "Ten" and it'd be perfect.

As it is I think the title is the sort of pretentious BS that's typical of RTD and it sounds like he wants people to think the end of his era is the end of the show, period.

No doubt he'll be making all sorts of claims about how "epic" it's going to be before delivering yet another damp squib that's only highlight will be how overblown the regeneration sequence will be.

I dunno. A lot of convo's on message boards are drawing a parallel between the Pertwee-Baker transition and the Tennant-Smith transition.

I really think the potential for a new Golden age of Doctor Who is coming.

how the hell is it pretentious? it's a title. In a program all about.. time. How you draw pretentious from that is beyond me.

Comparing 10 & 11 to 3 & 4 is IMO ridiculous but considering the source of such discussion then it's no real suprise as most of the people on the dedicated Doctor Who websites are overly hardcore Nu-Who fans.

One has gotten nowhere near Jon & Tom's WORST performances let alone their best and the other hasn't even had an episode air yet so it's still unknown what he'll be like.

Maybe Matt Smith will be good but better than Tom? Very doubtful for the simple reason that there's little chance of him getting the same kind of quality material to work with as writers like Robert Holmes, Terry Nation and co no longer exist, or if they do their talent is stifled by the 1000mph format that allows for nothing but cardboard dialogue and characterisation.

I would however, welcome a new golden age as the last few years have seen nothing but turd brown.

Brendan, you are in good form today! :lol

Just being honest, same as always! :p

Now the end is in sight for the current era I'm starting to get a bit more optimistic about the future and as I said a few posts back I'm gonna give it a go as despite my huge apathy for his previous work I find it difficult to believe that Steven Moffat or anyone else for that matter can create a Doctor that's worse than the irritating emo prat that's on his way out.

And despite my initial instincts saying that Matt Smith looks about 10 years too young to be convincing there is also a part of me that's saying "what if he's a suprise package?"

If he does turn out to be decent and helps increase the show's popularity to levels that makes Tennant's contribution pale into insignificance then I'll praise Moffat/Smith just as much as I've blasted their predecessors but even if that doesn't happen I will be happy enough if they create something that I'm able to sit & watch without wanting to put my foot through the TV screen.

so far tom baker's episodes have been some of my least favorites. the acting is wooden as a table leg, especially anything requiring any physical movement beyond sticking his hand in his pocket or a bag of gummie bears. his acting is out classed by a dog shaped rc car. then again, I haven't gotten to anything from 6 or 7 yet. :lol

i like tennant, but of the earlier ones I think I like the 3rd. I liked the 1st and 2nd too though. The first I'm not sure I was overly fond of the Doctor himself, but the overall stories are great and I like his crew of companions. The 2nd I liked but I couldn't find more than a couple stories on DVD.

Intresting narration,

"He is returning" = The Master
"They are returning" = The Time Lords ???
"It is returning" = Gallifrey ???

But more importantly to me HE is leaving and I'll be able to start watching again, :chew:chew:chew:chew:chew

Man, I cannot wait for December 26th! Best present ever! I enjoy how Ood Sigma is completely not amused by the Doctor.

Can't say I'm thrilled with the Master's return. Didn't much care for the newest version of him. Maybe I'll like him better the second time around. :dunno

Brendan, I'd hate to break this to you but you never stopped watching it. :lol

Series 3 was the first time I started getting bored and failing to watch episodes to the end and then during series 4 I stopped watching entirely from "The Doctor's Daughter" onwards, missed the next few weeks before watching the ones where Davros returned and "Journeys End" proved to be just that as far as the current era goes.

Look at it this way, there'll probably be a new version to go up against Matt Smith so maybe they'll cast someone who actually looks the part.

IMO the goatee needs to return as it adds about 50% more evil to the character :)
