Look at it this way, there'll probably be a new version to go up against Matt Smith so maybe they'll cast someone who actually looks the part.

IMO the goatee needs to return as it adds about 50% more evil to the character :)

I'm not a huge fan of Sims Master either. Props for his being his own actor and making the role his own, but I felt it was written with the Master as the "Joker" and really didn't dig it. I agree about the goatee, Brendan! (laugh)

I know you anti-guys are going to agree with this (but not for the same reasons :lol) but I thought Simms was the perfect antithesis to Tennant's Doctor in the same way Delgado filled the same role against Pertwee. Loved Simms Master. :D

Whilst there has always been some similarities between the Doctor and the Master I think Simm's portrayal was way too close to Tennant's already overdone "manic" schtick and he looked about as intimidating as Mr Bean.

If he'd tried doing his "I am the Master and you will obey me!" hypnosis trick I reckon the intended victim would have just laughed in his face, kicked him in the balls and then walked off.

Here's a VERY cool Doctor Who CGI that ends up being oddly appropriate if you haven't seen it yet. Check it out!

That was fantastic

I agree, Tennant plays the doctor so eccentric and energetic, that the master would have to be in some way similar.

I just clicked that youtube link.. utter brilliance. :rock

Yeah, it's pretty cool. It got me thinking that it's about time somebody did a decent Doctor Who videogame as the character models would look amazing if they were done in a realistic style.

Another way to go would be a LEGO game as it'd be the easiest way of doing all the characters and each of the Doctors could have their own unique attacks eg

1st Doctor = Hits baddies with his stick
2nd Doctor = Uses his recorder in some way
3rd Doctor = Venusian karate!
4th Doctor = The scarf offers all kinds of possibilities
5th Doctor = Cricket bat
6-9 & 11 = No idea
10th Doctor = Bores villians to death with emo monologues

I would LOVE a Lego Dr. Who game...I love the Lego games and that would kick ass

Just to state it, so, you know, go write it down in your journals somewhere >(laugh)< my position on Ten- just like I hated Colin and Sly in their TV runs- I think the actual actor is terrific and capable of being a very terrific Doctor. Colin and Sly and proved that X 1000 in their audios. In Tennants case I have seen that in a smattering of episodes. Any problems I have with him/those past Doctors I place squarely at the feet of the showrunner who controls the tone of stories, content of stories, and the scripts being handed to the actor.

He determines how silly to let things get, and how much development goes into the Doctor even moreso than the actor because he controls the scripts. He makes radiation comes out of the Doctors foot. He destroys the Dalek race ad nauseum when they just got such a much needed overhaul in credibility in DALEK. He is the reason a Doctors character stalls into repeating notes mainicness and little else in ways of development.

Some day were Big Finish to get the Nu Who license I can Tennants audios kicking some righteous ass being developed by them. :)

Any hated I have for chunks of the Nu series I place solely at RTM's feet and actually don't blame Tennant for. :)

Holy crap! December 26th in America?!? :horror :banana

Too bad it's on a channel I don't get... :monkey2 I guess I'll will watch it via other methods.

I think there's a lot of truth in that though like Colin & Sylvester, Tennant is the easier target as he's the one in the spotlight.

I would have been intrested to see Tennant's Doctor with a producer of the standard of Barry Letts or Philip Hinchcliffe running the show and some consistently good scripts of the kind Robert Holmes knocked out year after year as I'm sure he'd have been far more intresting a character than the one RTD and his team of hacks created but sadly it's not to be and one can only hope in years to come he does some audios that go some way to erasing the crappiness of all but a few of his TV stories.

For the record these were the Tennant episodes or moments that I did like,

1."The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit".
( 10's character hadn't yet started to grate and the Ood were intresting new aliens. )

2."School Reunion"
( This story had some all too rare scenes where Tennant actually sounded convincing when being serious and some funny bits too. )

3."Army of Ghosts/Doomsday"
( The only decent finale RTD has written. Too bad he nuked the impact of the ending by bringing Rose back in series 4 for no other reason than trying to get a cheap ratings boost. )

4."Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel"
( Thought the new Cybermen looked great and got a kick out of their genius creator being played by an actor who is best known for playing a complete idiot in one of the UK's best loved comedy shows )

5.During "Gridlock" he said something like "you'll recover, you big old face" to the Face of Boe which was probably the last time he made me laugh.

Beyond that I've pretty much blanked the rest from my memory.

I couldn't agree more, although I don't hate the rest of the series, this list is pretty much the best moments of all of it...

I would add in:

"The Girl in the Fireplace"

and

"Human Nature/Family of Blood"

I would add in:

"The Girl in the Fireplace"

and

"Human Nature/Family of Blood"

I think I've possibly made my feelings on those stories known at some point so I won't comment on them any further ;)

My favorite Christopher Eccleston episodes/moments were,

1."Dalek"
( IMO the only Nu-Who story that comes close to the best of the Classic era. )

2.The bit in "Rose" where the Doctor talks about being able to feel the Earth turning etc.
( If RTD had written entire episodes of the quality of that scene then I wouldn't consider his era such a non event. )

3."The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances"
( For now the only Moffat penned story that I like. )

4.Also in "Rose" the bit where Jackie Tyler says "there's a strange man in my room, anything could happen" and the Doctor just gives her this look and says "No" :D

5.Any of the bits where the Doctor is taking the piss out of Mickey.

'
VOICE : a shadow is falling over creation

Shot of darkness consuming the tardis console room.

VOICE: something vast is stirring in the dark

The streets of London are in ruins, deserted and silent

DOCTOR: What happened here

OOD: The end has come doctor

Shot of the master laughing manically

quick shots of the Big Ben alblaze, a bridge crumbling into the water, people screaming

Donna holds her head in pain, a fire glistens in her eyes

WILF: are you ok darling?

Donna doesnt answer

WILF: Donna?

DONNA: yeah, im fine

she looks dazed.

VOICE: things have changed

The tardis hurles through the vortex

VOICE: the balance has shifted,

Shot of a vast room filled with courtiers

TIMOTHY DALTON: he has opened the gate

Shot of the doctor looking worried,

We hear four knocks

shot of the master racing through the streets

shot of a black man, arms folded looking menacing.

WILF: help me Doctor

Wilf falls to his knees,

shot of a constrction site

shot of donna looking up to see the master looming over her.

a shadow falls across london

Doctor grabs someones hand

VOICE: The darkness heralds only one thing

an explosion behind the doctor as lazers shoot past him

Wilf running

A shot of June whitfield grabbing donna

A shot of the masters arms outstreched, then a shot of a vast light in the skies.

Fire erupts from donnas eye sockets.

The interior of the tardis with red lights flashing

Tears stream down the doctors face

The master laughs manically again

BLACK

VOICE: the end of time itself

TITLE: the end of time

Fire erupts from Donna's eye sockets? Please let this be a sign that she'll explode at the ear piercing sound of her own voice! :D

No doubt London will be destroyed ( AGAIN ) and everything will be magically restored in the last five minutes in true RTD finale fashion...........is it 2010 yet?
