That is true, she could have regenerated and aged again. I dunno though.. if it IS Romana that is just a HUGE fanwank, 8th Doctor level fanwank. I really won't be excited though until we KNOW the Time Lords are hanging around this time and not just going to go away as I fear RTD has done with Davros.

Not getting my hopes up but it would be oh so nice. But it's still just a cameo. I'd love to see him in a full story.

My vote, cynically, goes for never. We already got the Time Lords, I think it would be going the distance to give us a cameo of 8. Ah but then the dreamer kicks in and thinks wouldn't it be nice to see the regeneration from 8 to 9.

Well you know

there is a posted scene from part 2 which has the time lords sitting at a round table in the days before the end of the Time War where they are discussing intel reports about the Doctor's plan to end it by destroying Gallifrey
......

Did you click on that Sean? Where you strong enough not to? :lol

Oh no I saw the scene days ago when it first turned up officially. But is the Time War really over? Is it ever really over? It's all very curious.

Well, from what we know, the war is "time locked". Doctor says that after Dalek Khan makes his predictions regarding the doctor. Khan flew into the time war unprotected and went insane. So since he could actually fly through it, means that it still exists (or ongoing, I suppose). Since it was "time locked", I'm assuming that nobody can get into it and help either side. I imagine it's in its own little universe cut off from everybody else that traps the time lord and the daleks in itself (besides the ones that escaped...the doctor, davros, emperor of the daleks, cult of skaro, etc)

Besides the identity of the Lady in White, I am equally as curious if Timothy Dalton as the new Lord President is actually Omega. I'm sure other fans must have thought about it but I really haven't seen any threads speculating on it. Similarities: His chest unit looks very reminicent of Omega's from Arc of Infinity, he's barking mad, and now we see in clips from ep 2
he has the hand disintigration thing. Anti-matter anyone?

Also, old rant: the whole Time Lords "ressurrecting the Master" scenario is such a cop-out story wise as an explanation to bring the Master back to the series, cause if the Time Lords can ressurrect people, the fact that Morbius or anyone else is dead has no meaning what-so-ever anymore if they can just be "brought back". YAWN. It's the worst/laziest precident they could have gone for for a guy who seems to have 1,500 lives. A weak explanation like that wasn't really needed.

Can Omega still be alive? Wasn't he blown to smithereens?

I've always thought there was huge potential to do have past Doctor cameo flashbacks kind of like HIGHLANDER does showing a character in an appropriate scene to the story earlier in their immortal life. Mind you, not many Doctors look the part anymore to pull it off, but McGann certainly does and I think it would be a shame not to occassionally do that now that the concept of what regeneration is has been introduced into the show.

Ex: Current Doc haunted by something that happened to the Eighth Doctor that is important now but can't remember what it was now, and it was important. Small flashbacks to Doc 8 over the series tell the story.

By the same token, I never really understood why RTM had "Doctor-Lite" stories. To give Tennant a break? Budget reasons, paying The Doc only for guest star fees for an ep? Again, if you have to have a Doctor-lite story (and assuming it's not for budget reasons), and the concept of Regeneration has been re-introduced now, have the current Doctor telling the companion a story of an older adventure or have the companion reading a 500 year diary to learn about a past Doctor and then have a past Doctor guest for that episode.

Again, unfortunately only Doc 8 on really fits the bill for it to work (though I'd be willing to pretend some more to have Davison come back for an ep now that he's been in the Nu series!), and i douby cclestone would ever come back, but I like the idea alot.

Because he likes to take the focus away from where it should be ( on the Doctor ) as much as possible?

Roll on 2010. Then the real Doctor Who revival should start.

the focus should be on the stories... and if we can get a better story by having the doctor appear in it a different (shorter) way (and we did) ..then I'm all for it

The reason for the Doctor light stories was the shooting schedules. They way they would be blocked they needed one story where the Doctor was featured minimally since he is 90% of all the other episodes.

Well that was sort of how the old series went kaput. The focus became the Doctor and the writing took a back seat.
