Well the Doctor is still under the assumption he's the last. So in a way it makes sense. It is kinda giggle worthy though haha. And now that I hear it it sounds like the Doctor is trying to diffuse a situation. Will be interesting to see it in context.

Thanks. Clearly context is everything. I feel much better about it now... Hearing just the audio I had pictured them laying in bed having some cute pillow talk (I knew thats not how it would play out obviously). :lol

Heyy.. look at that, Doctor diffusing situation perhaps? haha :lol

It reminded me of those crappy NPR versions of LOTR. There is a scene with Sam saying he will carry Frodo and it really does sound like they are engaging in... um.... you know.

haha but see, I had faith, let it run through my mind with the little bits of info I do have and was pretty much spot on. For that I am glad.. and I'm even more glad that today is December 30.

We're 3 days away... How are you guys feeling?

10 is my favorite Doctor, but I'm ready for a change. Hopefully, we can get a special or two featuring the other Tennant Doctor. I don't know anything about Matt Smith, but I'm happy the show is continuing.

This is a stark contrast to my feelings about 9's regeneration. I never saw Who before the reboot and had no idea a regeneration was a common thing on the show. I had just come to love the show, the character, and the actor, and he was gonna be replaced by "That Guy"?!?!? (I've never seen Tennant other than those early promo stills and I did not like what I saw). This worked really well for the story and drama in the show, since Rose was going through exactly what I (and most of the audience) was going through. Whether that bit was intentional or unintentional by the writers, I don't know, but it played out brilliantly.

So, 3 days until 11. How are you feeling? Sad? Angry? Indifferent?

We all know how bcm feels... :lol

I am sad to see him go (I am pro-Tennant :lol) but I am also ready to see the show head in a new direction. I am getting tired of RTD's style of story telling (his forte is really writing the smaller scaled stories like Midnight, which was great) and I am ready for new blood to pump into the show.

Well I'm looking forward to it.

Gotta say I wasn't all that impressed with the writing in part one, but we''ll see If old Rusty can pull his finger out and give Tennant the send off he deserves.

I'm soooooooooooooo happy that Tennant is almost history because I think his incarnation of the Doctor was the most predictable, irritating twat that's ever stepped inside the TARDIS although I think the man who was largely responsible for the garbage he was given to work with is an even bigger turd.

As for the future, part of me just wants it to crash and burn before it becomes an even bigger mockery of what it once was but maybe, just maybe things will be better under the new regime.

But I am firmly in Tom Baker's corner in believing the downfall of Doctor Who came with the stupid "?" on the collar.

The thing is, the audience of the time seemed to like those quirks. We must remember it was the new wave early '80s and viewers were clued into things like pop videos and the post-punk aesthetic. Ratings rose under Peter Davison compared to the final year of Tom Baker, which was slaughtered by networked opposition. The BBC at this point still had a place for Doctor Who in its arsenal, so they moved it to a healthier slot on the schedule and promoted it with Davison as a star.

It was also hiring a leading man who wasn't really a leading man and putting him clothes that would lend no credibility to his Doctor

But again the facts simply don't support this reading. Colin Baker had comparatively strong ratings during his 1984 season. The audience wasn't fleeing in droves. We don't see anything resembling the cancellation ratings until the 1986 Trial, which suffered from the hiatus, budget cuts etc.

getting writers who new nothing about the genre all lead to a loss of faith in Doctor Who (what little it ever had from the Beeb).

This never happened. The "new writer" phase came under Andrew Cartmel, and not only did those writers largely have genre backgrounds but they also came alongside an upswing in ratings and critical response.

I loved Eccelston and I loved Tennant, but I also enjoyed all of Moffat's episodes in "new who", so I am looking forward to the new season/series. Obviously, having a darker doctor fit Eccelston's persona and having Tennant being eccentric fit him. I'm wondering how the tone of the show will fit Smith's personality.

That brings me to another question, will Smith's first season start around Spring like the other Who seasons?????

Schweeeeeeeeeeeet. Also wondering if we will get the regeneration at the VERY end of the episode and only get Smith saying a few words ala Eccelston-Tennant regeneration.

Its the last few pages of the script, so I would bank on the actual regen coming at the very end, per usual.

I have a feeling that Donna's metacrisis issue may play a part in the regeneration.

You just put a very bad thought into my head. In EOT pt1, The Doctor talks to Wilf about how he can die. (iirc, he talked about absolute death as well as regeneration) What if The Master (or somebody, or something) *kills* The Doctor and attempts to prevent a regeneration from happening. Donna somehow is able to transfer her Time Lord life-force stuff to The Doctor, allowing him to regenerate, but killing her in the process? :monkey2:monkey2:monkey2

Now I'm depressed. I need to conjure up an ending that involves unicorns and rainbows pronto!

Perhaps Donna transfers her time-lord consciousness to the doctor and that will be the thing that saves her....
