Yup. Colin was being screwed with on all sides. Conan has it good in comparison.
I finally decided to watch a Colin Baker era story last night and chose "Attack of the Cybermen".
And I thought it was............OK-ish, though the number of continuity references made the story seem like bad fan fiction.
Colin's Doctor seems to have a bit more life to his character than Davison though I can see why some would dislike him but if "Attack" was a decent indication of his character throughout his run I'd still take any of his stories to a desert island with me over anything Tennant did.
After watching "The Peladon Tales" DVD box set I'll probably try "The Two Doctors" and maybe one of Sylvester's stories after that.
I liked Colin Baker because he was the polar opposite of Davison. Arrogant, belligerent and excessively violent. The Two Doctors isn't great, but he does do something shockingly un-Doctor like in it. It's worth the watch for that alone.
One thing that made me laugh during "Attack of the Cybermen" was the fact that the Cyber Controller had a bit of a beergut. I wonder if Character Options make the figure they'll sculpt it in?
My main reason for choosing "The Two Doctors" next is to see more of the 2nd Doctor & Jamie as there's so little left of their original run left in existence but now I've seen that Colin isn't quite as bad as I expected having read so much crap about him on various sites I'll pay attention to him just as much.
They didn't sculpt Colin's so I doubt they will.
New Series Console?
I figured the lightning in it was kind of neutral. But the general look of it seems pretty close as memnoch said.
New console is all well and good, but I'm hoping we get to see some more rooms in the TARDIS sometime soon.
