If this rumor is legit hopefully it will play out in a way that's totally different than previous Nu-Who finales as a change from "Daleks try to destroy everything" and a reset button plot device in the last 5 minutes is long overdue.

The other story I'm looking forward to is the return of the Sea Devils & Silurians.

The wife and I watched The Visitation with Peter Davidson last night. That was a fairly good story. That Andric kid is a bit annoying. Costumes were pretty fun.

The teratalips (or whatever they were called) were pretty funny, but not bad. I couldn't tell if the missing eye was deliberate or if the mask broke and they didn't bother to fix it. :lol

I can't understand why Adric is the Jar-jar Binks of the Classic Who. When I was a kid watching him I found his character rather endearing.. and still do!

I find him extremely annoying. The character is pointlessly smug and self-serving and Matthew Waterhouse was a profoundly bad actor even within the standard of the time.

I think he was excellent in the E-Space Trilogy where he seemed to be willing to drop the Doctor & Romana in the crap to save his own neck and his exit in "Earthshock" was the best ever, I don't care what the scientists say, Adric killed the dinosaurs! ( Or was it Baldrick's underpants? )

I want that on a t-shirt!

:lol

On the subject of Adric, his account of how things were behind the scenes during his run will soon be published as Matthew Waterhouse is writing an autobiography which promises to pull no punches on what he really thought of fellow cast members.

On some of the E-Space Trilogy DVD extras & commentaries there's a few hints as to who might be in for a bashing as he described one co-star ( Janet Fielding ) as "scary" and was reluctant to say much about another ( Lalla Ward ).

It's not a secret that Waterhouse was nearly unanimously loathed by virtually everyone involved in his two seasons with the show.

I like the Star Wars comparisons so I came up with another one,

1st Doctor = Yoda

1st Doctor = Yoda

I've thought that ever since I first saw the first Doctor! He even makes the "mmmmm's" and "eh's" like Yoda.

That probably makes no sense typed out, but if you heard the man talk, you'd know what I mean! :lol

Before any of the Davison eps played in Chicago in the early 80's--- (there was a horrendously long gap where they ran through the series and didn't play his new season once it was available until they ran through the entire series from wherever they were and got to Logopolis again because they showed them in the proper order)
--- I bought the novelization of "Visitation" so that was my first Davison ep. I loved the Terileptils from their pics in Doctor Who monthly and the one with the damaged face. I was pretty horrified when I saw the actual ep finally and saw their full body (laugh).
"They have a fish tail for feet???? WTH???" :lol

I still like the ep but need to really ignore their body costumes!

I liked Adric as a character though he was written very unevenly and not to the characters best potential most of the time (much like K-9) like he could have been.

There is a Big Finish Fifth Doctor and Nyssa Audio out called the BOY THAT TIME FORGOT
that is basically a sequel to Earthshock (sans Cybermen) which focus' on the Doctor meeting a very old Adric in a divergent pocket universe of block transmutation in the pre-historic past who somehow survived the starliner crash and now has a serious mad-on for the Doctor by feeling betrayed because the Doctor never tried to rescue him.

Adric is written like the same jerky Adric throughout and it was a pretty decent story/sequel whether you like Adric or not. The main cast get quite annoyed at him often so there is some pleasure in it. The big thing is that basically you eventually learn the Doctor DID try to save him which is nice to see the Doctor felt guilt and we get to see some of that as feelings are resolved.

He also has a cane and a "grumpy old man persona" :)

Other Star Wars/Who comparisons,

Captain Jack = A camp version of Lando Calrissian

UNIT troops = Rebel Fleet Troopers at the start of ANH

Rose Tyler = "It's a trap!"

I know I'm late to the party, but I just watched the 1997 tv movie that was done with Paul McGann as the Doctor and Eric Roberts as the Master. Eric was hilariously bad, but McGann was great. It's kind of neat that Gallifrey was alive and kicking at this time and that it would have been McGann's doctor that witnessed the time war.

I think it would be great if in the new series they have some flashback scenes with Paul McGann in the time war. It would definitely make up for how that was botched in the End of Time two-parter.

I think a 6-part Time War mini series with McGann & Eccleston would be infinitely more intresting than more Torchwood or SJA but it won't happen as it was never created with any intention of being depicted in anything more than fan-fic.

RTD claimed that it would be impossible to do because the whole Time War concept is too vast for it to live up to fans expectations but this is the same idiot that said they couldn't do many stories set on alien worlds because of a lack of budget despite the fact the show has never been better supported financially by the BBC so I think he was just making excuses to try and hide the fact that he lacked the creativity to follow up on his initial idea.
