I think 'Tooth and Claw' was the best RTD/tennant era story, the story was very well written as the outcome was put in place from the start. It had great pacing and humour as well as some brilliant minor characters who all were easy to buy into. 'Dalek' is the best Eccleston story and 'Vampires of Venice' for Smith in my opinion

What was he supposed to do? Maybe he has magic stone-to-flesh wizard powers.

I was suprised the sonic screwdriver didn't have a setting that solved the problem as the modern version seems to work on everything else in the known universe :)

N2k-swb,
Of 10's first series I only really disliked "Fear Her" & "Love & Monsters" at the time and my favorite stories were "The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit" and "Army of Ghosts/Doomsday" but I wouldn't even watch those now.

He has magic powers pulled out of his butt at the end of most other RTD era stories so why not? (laugh). It's make believe. They could have just written a better ending that doesn't suck (and kept the Doc more in character). :)

BCM- very true! It was surprising there wasn't a Sonic function for that!

In "Last of the Time Lords" he reversed the accelerated aging process with what I can only politely describe as "people power" and then proceeded to fly like Peter Pan and move stuff with his mind like a Jedi so giving Elton more than a paving slab to get head from should have been a breeze.

10 was such a know it all I fully expected him to go "Oh THAT old technique, I've not seen it for YEARS...the Abzorbaloff was BRILLIANT! wasn't he? Not to worry, I'll have it fixed before you can say Alonsy!".

I have to admit 'Last Of The Timelords' was a total joke ending, it ruined that whole finale for me. Doomsday was okay i thought Tennant and Piper acted brilliantly and the descision for the doctor not to say 'i love you' was the right one to make. I did feel like the cybermen vs daleks would be much more of a vicious battle and could of been more epic but budgets and time i guess did not allow for this. Love and Monsters was really weird, its an episode il only view once and it was odd to include an episode that didnt further any story for anyone in the whole of the series. Has there been a Doctor story set in the wild west?

I think "Doomsday" was RTD's best finale but he managed to nuke the impact the ending had on both the audience and the Doctor by bringing Rose back in series 4.

cool! i have been playing red dead redemption and i thought it would be fun to see the doctor riding around the old west.
I do agree bringing Rose back was a little strange, i wonde rif any other person in creative had argued against it? RTD had tied up that story so well it made little sense for her to return. The finale of series four also brought back SJS who already had her story tied up nicely at the end of "School reunion" when the doctor left her with a hug and a new K-9. In fact everyone except Donna and Harriet Jones had their stories tied up nicely so it didnt make much sense to bring them back again? As nice as the scene of the full TARDIS was it does seem a little pointless.

I would think that if members of RTD's team tried to suggest that the constant reunions served no real purpose they were threatened with a reduction of their banana supply :)

Another Wild West story would be cool, I have a brilliant multi Doctor scenario in my mind where history could be rewritten so that 10's death actually ocurred because he materialised in between 2 dueling cowboys.

Red Dead Redemption is AWESOME!, been playing it quite a bit myself during the week.

I have been thinking it would be awesome to have a story with 11 which coincides with a classic story. We never really see a past Doc but we do get little bits like a classic TARDIS and maybe some obvious story elements crossing between. It would be funny seeing the Doctor trying to solve his problem without crossing into his past self's time stream.

Maybe they could do one where it occurs the same time as a previously unseen adventure for the 8th Doctor?

That way it gives McGann another chance to show what he can do onscreen and avoids any backlash from messing with other, more prominent time streams.

Ohh that would make a fun series 6 finale. 3 parts total. Equal time between Doctors 11 and 8.

Off topic, but I remember reading a little bit ago that the Face of Boe was going to make an appearance this season, anybody else hear that???

The first photos and new details have also emerged about the remaining few episodes of the season including the final two-parter "The Pandorica Opens" over at Life, DW & Combom.

SPOILERS

The finale ties in with the tenth episode "Vincent and The Doctor" where a Van Gogh painting contains a disturbing prophecy. In the finale The Doctor visits 102 A.D. England where Romans receive a surprise visit from Cleopatra and nearby Stonehenge conceals the Pandorica.

So what is it? River Song describes it in the episode as "A bog, a cage, a prison, it was built to contain the most feared in all the universe" and now it is slowly unlocking. Meanwhile terrible forces gather in the heavens above, the cracks in time grow, the silence will fall and somehow Amelia Pond's bedroom will tie everything together.

So "the most feared in all the universe" will consist of the rumored Dalek,Cyberman and Sontaran.

Stonehenge will be awesome, will Spinal Tap be doing the music?
