Tom didn't return for "The Five Doctors" as he felt it was too soon after his departure.

The footage of the 4th Doctor & Romana II used in the story was from a Douglas Adams penned story called "Shada" that was never completed due to industrial action at the BBC.

Ah i see, well that makes sense i suppose! i haven't been watching classic who in any particular order just watching episodes people mention. I couldnt understand in the 'Five Doctors' however why the first doctor was more intelligent and knowledgable at times than the others? Surely the Doctor should get smarter with age?

Yeah, multi-Doctor stories are the one area where the show bends on the "they are all the same person" motif in the writing because if I met me in the future and I'm a Timelord, you know, whatever. It's me. Instead we have Tennant telling Davison how he was HIS Doctor, while nice, it doesn't jibe. Its pure fan ****. We have Doctors bickering. Which makes it colorful and fun, but doesn't quite make sense when they are the same person, then like was pointed out, they always listen in reverence to the first Doctor when he is actually the least knowledgeable. Not a biggie, but definitely more towards servicing the fans than the story.

I dunno. If fat 35 year old me met thin 20 year old me I am pretty sure I would get the crap kicked out of me for the way I turned out. :lol

The highlight of the multi-Doctor stories for me was the bickering between Troughton and Pertwee which was initially how they were with each other off camera though they became good friends in the end.

I also like the comedy from the Trout towards the end of "The Two Doctors", the man was pure gold and it's been awesome to Matt Smith channeling his spirit during this series.

Tried to install it at work but i think our server IP's are out of range because it claims im not in the UK...Mega fail for my morning :slap

wait till saturday morning as thats the quickest i ever get for an internet connection and mines bad where i am.
thats what i am gonna do

GOt mine installed but I have to restart my computer to play... and I don't feel like restarting at the moment.

I've played the first bit of "City of the Daleks" and though the gameplay is very basic the dialogue is better than most of today's TV episodes, there's a great line early on that references the Doctors past adventures in the London Underground.

i have installed it on my home PC, lost interest after a little while but that smy awful attention span rather than the game, would it of hurt them to create a decent control system lol

Yeah the controls are a bit dodgy especially if you're playing on a laptop with one of those touchpad things........the bits where you have to rewire stuff get VERY annoying :gah:

i think its this Xbox generation but i kept thinking id get an achievement for collecting the 'hidden' items or whatever they are. But for something thats free its not half bad, i wasnt expecting anything really special its just nice to be the doctor and hide from ugly daleks

I'm suprised this isn't being offered on XboxLive Arcade as it's perfect fodder for that format.

Maybe these freebies are to test the waters to see how much intrest there'd be in a full fledged commercial release for PC and the consoles?

just bought an ipod touch so i been downloading torchwood videos to watch, its quite a good show but why does RTD feel the need to make sure everyone knows people's sexuality? if they did put this Dr Who game on a console i think it would need quite an overhaul before it made any decent money from people.

why does RTD feel the need to make sure everyone knows people's sexuality?

Because IMO he was more concerned with trying to make minority groups acceptable to the masses than creating entertaining, intelligent & intresting stories with credible, likeable characters.

Had he spent more time on these areas and less on his soapbox I wouldn't despise his work so much.

Having a character like Captain Jack is one thing but making some sort of reference to the sexuality of what seemed like EVERY character in TW and all the bits he shoehorned into Who no matter how irrelevant to the story was just overkill.

I would also argue that sexuality or romance shouldn't even be in a show like Who or TW to begin with beyond the occasional mention and certainly not to the extent RTD battered people over the head with it.

I have started buying classic who dvds, i could download them but i like to have a collection. Its going to be an expensive collection, HMV selling individual episodes at £9 a time! i bought a set called new beginnings which has the last two tom baker episodes and the first peter davidson one. Quite apt seen as today i picked up my parcel containing Pyramids of mars Tom baker and end of time Tennant..took me twenty minutes to walk to the collection office who's opening hours are 7am till 12:00 midday so i left early and when i returned i had a nice little notice from RM telling me they are sorry they missed me, sod's law!

Much, much better than the pitiful Silurian effort.

I loved the way they story handled Van Gogh's battle with depression and the ending was one of the best in the entire revival, a great mix of happiness & sadness.

This story proves that Who works best when it's not trying to be as "epic" as other franchises.

Next week will be the first story of 11's era that I miss but after this week I'm a bit more confident that the last 2 episodes won't suck so I'll maybe watch 'em after all.
