What can better than the fez? a sombrero? I have read a spoiler free review of the episode and it was a glowing one.

I found a site i can stream the classic Who episodes, last night i watched the 'Tomb of the Cybermen' and i really am enjoying Troughton's incarnation as i have not seen too much of him except the Two/Three/Five doctor stories. What i prefer about the classic episodes over the new ones is the fact that the Doctor is not infallible and makes mistakes, still brilliant but less god-like.

That's particularly true of Troughton, which makes him so much fun to watch. It always feels like he's in just a bit over his head, and that makes his portrayal quite unique to most (if not all) of the other Doctors.

The modern Doctors are all far too cocky IMO.

It could be argued that someone who has lived so long has seen a thing or two and that is fair enough but how is the audience supposed to suspend their disbelief and think the character is in any danger if it's so obvious he'll get out of whatever situations he finds himself in because he always says something to the effect of "I've not seen one of those for a while".

N2k,
I know what hat it is and it's definitely cooler than a fez :)

Because i wasn't quite sure who Sil was i watched the 'Vengance of Varos' episode, holy hell was 6 a badass! he pretty much turned up and cause the deaths of a few. I dont like Colin's over acting but that episode showed the Doctors carefree darker style, something that could of been great to explore with someone better behind the role. I also watched 'Survival' with McCoy and Ainley as the infected master, i want to like McCoy i really do as he gets a bad rap but its really quite justified as he just cannot act unless he has some running or something slapstick to do (evidenced by his 'Fight like animals' speech at the end)

A night of random Christmas program viewing quickly turned into a Doctor Who mini-marathon. I gotta say, "Voyage of the Damned" is pretty high up there on my list of favorite episodes ever. It may even be a better "intro episode" than "Rose".

Can't wait for "A Christmas Carol"... :rock:rock:rock

My 3 year run of getting my Christmas Who fix from Classic DVD's came to an end and the new regime continues to repair the damage done to my opinion of the modern show by the previous one.

"A Christmas Carol" was as cheesy as a seasonable episode is meant to be but thankfully it was a good kind of cheese and even the love story element didn't seem too nauseating.

The best line was,

"Santa, or as I know him.....Jeff" :)

I may be wrong on this but in one very brief shot it also appeared that 11 was wearing a VERY familiar scarf.

Series 6 preview contains some desert shots from Utah, Nazi's, Men In Black, an Ood, that hideous creature known as River Song and the Doctor in the Oval Office saying one of the best lines in Nu-Who's existence.........which is now my sig.

Karen told me her favorite from the new series is the one with the tally marks on her face and all over River. It'll be related to a new alien breed, and will be a two-part episode, better known as episode 5&6.

Yeah I liked it...it was everything a Xmas special should be and Michael Gambon was excellent

Fantastic christmas episode, Smith was totally on the ball as the Doctor and his first 5 minutes of screen time babble was so brilliant. Heres to hoping Matt sticks around for a 3rd series!

Also has the TARDIS interior had a little revamping? the handrails seem new and rounds rather than the way the used to be, i didnt notice any more real changes though.

Pretty good episode, but I unfortunatly I got home from relatives' house late and missed the first 15 mins, and had to fill in the blanks as I went along.
At first I thought that the woman that they were unfreezing was the kid's mom, so I was kind of thrown for a loop as the episode went along.

thought it was sorta decent. the sharks and fish in space was pretty stupid, IMO. but the heart of the show was in the right place, just reached a bit too far in adding a bit of special effects.

The Doctor in a Santa hat driving a coach pulled by a flying shark was probably my favorite part. I'm really starting love how whimsical they're willing to get with Matt Smith's stories. It does backfire sometimes, but when it works, it really works.

LOVED this moment:

So I was wrong on the scarf but no matter, it was still a fun moment :)

I got some cash for Christmas and used some of it towards the "Myths & Legends" box set which contains,

"The Time Monster"
"Underworld"
"The Horns of Nimon"

I've also pre-ordered "Meglos" & "The Mutants" which are out in January & February respectively so I'll have plenty to keep me going until the next series starts.
