I hear you there. I still don't watch TV. Everything I get I make sure it worth my time and then get either the blue ray or watch it on netflix. :lol

Fortunately I still have plenty of other Classic Who stories still to be released on DVD to look forward to. I just got "Planet of the Spiders" today which I've only seen once before in full.

My wife and I have so many good shows to watch that we simply don't have the time to watch them all, so I can't relate.

Thats a good article, i just hope they dont drop even further since that's all most media pays attention to.

I can't lie, I'd love it if ratings continued to be poor as it'd hopefully lead to Moffat's departure.

Although at this point I don't think it matters who runs the show as it seems the modern format makes consistently good television nigh on impossible.

Too bad JNT is no longer with us as despite a lot of bad ideas he still had a better grasp of what makes the show work than either of his successors.

I really do like the show as much as i like the Classics but i see them as two different beasts. I find the new shows and fro me they are so much easier to watch than the older ones since i have a shoddy attention span and i find while watching the classics i tend to switch off or skip through parts since the pace is significantly slower, some episodes that stretch over 4 parts could of been solved easily in two. I was born when Dr Who was cancelled and my first taste was the Movie then again a few years ago with series 2 and i imagine most of the new audience are made up of children who obviously never saw the previous regime so it makes sense to change and adapt to a modern audience. Most TV shows that have been revived are far removed from what they originally were, sometimes i works better and sometimes it fails (he-man new cartoon was a total miss for me) Pretty much this is Doctor Who now and i think if it ever tried to go back to the style of old it would fall flat since this is what new generations believe Who to be. I praise Moffat for taking new risks despite the popularity of RTD's time and for giving us stuff to discuss even if it is getting confusing!

Although I was born when Tom was still the Doctor I never got into the show until the revival in 2005 and enjoyed much of the first 2 series.

I'm glad I did at the time because I otherwise wouldn't have gotten intrested in the Classic era but looking back I now wonder why I ever got into Nu-Who because it is plagued with the same issues that I have with modern TV in general.

I understand why it's had to change but those issues mean I can never really enjoy it as much as I perhaps could even though part of me wants to.

I can't tell you how much I disagree there. Nothing is worse than a clown suit, crappy sets, bad writing, and Mel Brown. :lol

The following stories also happened on his watch,

"Warrior's Gate"
"Earthshock"
"The Caves of Androzani"
"Remembrance of the Daleks"
"Battlefield"
"Ghost Light"
"The Curse of Fenric"

Any of those soundly beat anything Moffat has ever written or produced.

Mel was awful but Amy is getting pretty close to being as bad. JNT was also responsible for Ace who for me is second only to Leela as the best companion ever.

McCoy was much more intresting a Doctor than Smith and so was Colin for that matter......they just got shafted by internal politics.

Davison was dull as dishwater but he was at least being unique.....all Smith has are mannerisms stolen from previous Doctors and a lame gimmick about hats being cool.

still waiting for someone to create a classic Who thread where you guys can gush about episodes with dinner theater acting and production equivalent to Pee Wees Playhouse. I don't hate the classics, but Nu Who it so beyond that now as a whole its not even comparable. And thats with the writers fixation on forcefeeding us his personal social agenda.

Its not all that bad, 99.9% of classic episodes hands down destroy 'Love and Monsters'

The agenda i believe is forced by the BBC a comedian i saw live recently indulged how restricted he was by the BBC on his show including a set of lists of words he could not say and words he should. I did have an issue with it during RTD's era since it was predictable 70% of characters would turn out gay but that has been significantly decreased.

It was just pointed out to me that River has a vortex manipulator in the recent 2-parter. If she and The Doctor are meeting on the same timeline in opposite directions, how is that possible since she got her vortex manipulator last season (which would be her future)?

I :love Love and Monsters.
