A good man goes to war was excellent episode. This was epic and River Song reveal wasnt big surprise but definately insteresting.I cant wait 3 months to see Lets kill Hitler and last other episodes but I have to wait. Its not going to be easy:(:(

One thing that is nagging at me.

Last night's episode answered who River Song was to
Rory and Amy
but we still don't have a clue who she is to
The Doctor
.

That's obvious.

she's

His killer

I'm not buying that. I think the "good man" that River kills isn't the Doctor but somebody else entirely. To me the "good man who goes to war" wasn't the Doctor but was
Rory
. And for my two cents that will be the "good man" River kills.

Your forgetting something.

... she was the girl in the spacesuit that shot him in the first episode of the season. River's timeline and the doctors are going in opposite directions. As far as she knows, she killed the doctor when she was Very young. And lets not forget that right after it happens, river tries to shoot the girl, and fails. since when has river EVER missed? what was her response to missing? " of coarse..." as in she realized after the fact that she can't shoot herself as a small child. the web of time won't allow it. She Killed the doctor, and now she's atoning for it. perhaps even trying to find a way to re-write her own past and prevent it from happening.

Who knows if there even was a girl in the spacesuit at the time. It was established that the spacesuit can move around on its own, and it seemed to be established that the girl was merely stuck in the suit while it did its own thing.

I've also ordered "The Aztecs" as it's time I explored a bit more of the Hartnell years.

I bought 'The Aztecs' quite a while ago and really enjoyed it, one of my favourites from the few of Hartnells i have seen so far.

The 'Good Man Goes to War' episode was pretty awesome, a great pace and a spectaular showing from Matt Smith who was just great especially when he turned sinister balancing between trying to keep calm and total meltdown also when he got all giddy about River. His choice of people to call favours from seemed a little random but the episode had so much going for it its a minor thing to focus on, has the Tardis explosion from the last series been mentioned or tied up yet? seems to have been forgotten about...

I've heard from a few different people that it's a good one so I'll let you know what I think.

On the subject of Nu-Who, I've been enjoying not having to sit in front of my TV in a sense of utter confusion because the week's story will only make some kind of sense if you remember some tiny detail from a previous episode that may or may not be a red herring.........or is it?

I really don't know how people can keep track of all the various threads as for me it was like watching a vast stream of white noise.

umm.. go back and re-watch it.. you see her blonde hair as he starts to lift the visor. and then he says " it's ok, i know it's you"

Some one on another board made the same claim so someone else did a frame by frame screen capture. You can't see jack in that space suit.

I really want to see some classic Doctor Who episodes so Im planning to buy only these classic Doctor Who DVDs:
New Beginnings box
Genesis of the Daleks
Caves of Androzani
The Twin Dilemma
Attack of the Cybermen
Remembrance of the Daleks-special edition

For those that are intrested,

14 episodes with Matt Smith as the Doctor have been confirmed for next year.

Whatever.

My Classic DVD collection now numbers 75, hopefully I'll reach the hundred without having to get anything else with Davison ( I already have his 2 good stories ) or anything with Mel in it.

Desamo,
I would also recommend,

1st Doctor
"An Unearthly Child"
"The Daleks"
"The Dalek Invasion of Earth"

2nd Doctor
"Tomb of the Cybermen"
"The Seeds of Death"
"The Invasion"

3rd Doctor
"The Daemons" ( Is finally getting a DVD release soon! )
"Inferno"
"Terror of the Autons"

4th Doctor
"The Talons Of Weng-Chiang"
"The Deadly Assassin"
"The Seeds of Doom"

5th Doctor
Avoid everything but "Earthshock" & "The Caves of Androzani".

6th Doctor
"The Two Doctors"

7th Doctor
Anything from his last series ( number 26 )

8th Doctor
Avoid the TVM like the plague.
