LOL. I think thats the formula for a few of the new Who episodes too. The deux ex machina comes in a little too quick at the end sometimes when they could have had a longer solution to the problem.

I just watched the Satan's Pit 2 episode arc and I felt the Dr figured it out way too suddenly at the end.

It takes him a while to get down the drilled hole. Takes him a while to get to the bottom of the pit. Then in the course of 2 sentences he figures out that the beast can't talk because his spirit is somewhere else and that he should destroy the pots. LOL.

Still a good story though.

I love nuwho but classic who has a different pace which can be frustrating for those who are used to the quicker pace of the new show (looking at you Kabuki). I would like to see the new show slow down its pace a bit. I feel so many shows are crammed into too short a time slot.

I wouldn't mind mostly 2 parters and at least one 3 parter each series. End most of the eps on cliffhangers. If you have a tight story arc it can work very well.

I didn't think that until this last season. This season was the first time I felt they were rushing things and weren't really earning the emotional connections that they were striving for.

As a kid I watched the Baker episodes but wasn't a huge fan. Now I am a huge fan of nu-Who and don't really feel the need to know the history of the character.

Nu-Who's format is,

One-off episode:Blast through everything at 1000mph and try to take viewers attention off any plot holes with flashy action sequences.

2-part story: Pretty much the same only with a cliffhanger to end part 1.

3-part finale:Have a decent first part,an OK second part, some minor UK celebs making pointless guest appearances and a completely useless 3rd part that will exterminate the credibility of the show's major bad guys. Two years running.

I can understand why modern audiences like it because the "trash TV" format that's all style and no substance has become the norm for most types of show but aside from odd scenes during Christopher Eccleston's run I find it impossible to connect with the characters and unless a more old school approach is adopted for future series I will be getting my Time Lord fix from Classic DVD's.

This is interesting.. is Doctor Who headed for the big screen again?

This isn't news. There's no story here. This is just the incoming showrunner saying he wouldn't fight a hypothetical film provided it didn't affect the TV series. Typical BS headline basically.

Well excuse me for wanting to share it with the other Who fans here.. damn.

Sorry - I wasn't criticizing you. Just referring to the link being a non-story that shouldn't have been published. But that's modern media for you! :)

Honestly...to think I'd want to know about this...

You damn generous kids!

Seriously, I don't know if Doctor Who would work on the Big Screen...

Maybe for Doctor Number 11...

Under certain conditions a Doctor Who movie could work eg,

1.RTD isn't allowed anywhere near it.
( I know he's already said he won't write any more stories once he leaves but I could see the BBC asking him return as an executive consultant on a movie.)

2.A new Doctor is in place unless it's set during the Time War and Paul McGann and/or Christopher Eccleston could be persuaded to return.

I think it'd be a decent alternative to some TV specials in a "gap year" between full series but I'd be very concerned that a movie would be even more Americanised than Nu-Who has already become to ensure it's success outside the UK.

I would love to see a beautifully written full cinematic treatment of the Time War with Paul McGann and Eccleston. :rock

Edit: Didn't Moffat say he wouldn't mind the idea but he was worried seeing the Time War on the BIG SCREEN might end up being like the anticipation over seeing the Clone Wars only to find out it was a bunch of Jedi's having meetings. :lol

Not sure but I'd risk being disappointed if it meant seeing Eccleston in the Tardis one more time.
If Moffatt is that concerned about a possible Time War plot he could always write it himself.

Yeah... I don't think it was the fans expectations about the Clone Wars which let them down so much as George Lucas who let them down.

So yeah, I would be down. :D

Pixletwin and other DR WHO fans, I need your help...

Dragon*Con has put me on the following Panel... yet I've never seen an episode of the show and don't know one iota about it. :huh

Doctor Who in Other Media
We’ll spend an hour examining the comic strips,
novels, audio adventures & webcasts that have
created the Whoniverse, & that played such a crucial
role during the 15 yrs between “Survival” & “Rose.”
Carl Cunningham, Keith R.A. DeCandido, A Throne,
A Siler(M), E Wood; 2:30 P MONDAY;

Pixle, can you get to Atlanta by Labor Day and take my place? :lol

Why the crap did they put you on the panel? :lol

Beats me. :huh Sometimes they just stick Guests on random panels to fill them up, I think. And because I'm known as one of the SW guys they probably just assumed I'm into DR WHO too. :lol

Also funny, I'm one of 2 people on the Star Wars Fan Films panel... and I detest fan films. That one might be interesting. :rotfl

You had better hit wikipedia. :tap :)

Yeah, my friend just told me: "Time to hit Wikipedia and YouTube!"

Actually, I may just parlay my newb status into humor on the panel.

"Hey! I know what a Dalek is!" (because I read collectibles magazines) :lol
